Pretty much. Although I suspect much of the push for more black characters in popular media is a cynical attempt at domesticating them.
You see how 40 years of rap and hip hop have corrupted what was once a race that was on its way to becoming 'human' and replaced it with 'thug culture'? It's basically monkey see, monkey do. Except it doesn't work if the character isn't black as they, lacking in empathy, can't relate to a person that doesn't resemble them.
I'm sure the hope is that by presenting them with more 'black doctors, lawyers and superheroes' it will push them towards more acceptable behaviour than 'getting money and fucking bitches'.

Prophet was okay as a supporting character for Nomad, but killing Nomad off in favor of Prophet just for his name was an insult.
EVERYONE in Raptor team was written out of C2, and when they realized people caught on to that they started to shoehorn mentions of them in C3 but nothing else.
The writing in Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 were god awful, and Prophet was boring as a protag in 3.You dont even play as him in 2, you play a literally who that only exists as a self-insert silent protag that's killed off at the end of that game too.
