PSN can release your info and it's a huge deal
Valve can do it and nobody gives a shit.
>Remember, it's OK when Valve does it
>>
Steam broke for about 1-2 hours and nothing absolutely crucial was given out
PSN broke for 2-3 weeks and crucial information was stored in plain text files
>>
>>321611836
Somebody now has your phone number, address, and Steam Wallet amount. That's pretty sensitive information.
>>
>>321611684
>nobody gives a shit
Wasn't there a stickied thread with thousands of posts within hours of it happening?
>>
>>321611981
What exactly could someone do to me with that information?
>>
prank calls and leave flaming shit at your doorstep
>>
>>321614049
The odds that someone saw my account info AND also happened to live close enough to me to make leaving shit on my doorstep a viable option are astronomical.

Also nowadays cell phones can block particular phone numbers.
>>
>>321614358
Why are you taking a shitposting thread seriously?
>>
>>321614442
I've got nothing better to do.
>>
>>321611684
Its okay because Gaben gave us HL series, the less we owe him is forgiveness.
>>
>>321611981
So des every telemarketer, but except my steam wallet they control the fact I now never take up a call when I can't see their number when being called. Which is more annoying to me desu
>>
>>321611684
Because people hate ugly fat fucks.

Coincidently, the person who own's Steam, and the community, are all ugly fat fucks.

Why care when a community of ugly fat fucks gets what's coming to them for being ugly fat fucks?

It's true justice, and nobody questions it because of this.

>PSN broke for 2-3 weeks and crucial information was stored in plain text files
Like what? Because I don't recall anyone complaining about losing their credit card info or anything
>>
>>321611684
Sony doesn't have a monopoly on console gaming
>>
>>321611684
Well remember, Club Nintendo had an info leak in January and Nintendo never even publicly apologized or talked about it and nobody gives a shit.
>>
>>321611684
>anyone who saves cc info
>anyone having any important info on gaming accounts at all
You deserve everything that happened to you, PSN, Steam, Xbox Live. If you save info that can fuck your ass later and someone swipes it, it's your fault.
>>
>>321611684
they worked hard in the holidays to fix it, how entitled can you be?
>>
>>321615529
Then you weren't around.
>>
>>321615662
Where have you been the past 2 years Anon...
>>
that tends to happen when you have a monopoly and your userbase doesn't really know better in most cases.
>>
>>321615662
They've had a monopoly on console gaming since the PS2
>>
>>321611836
>2-3 weeks
It was 2 months anon
>>
>>321615930
I'd expect better proof, Anon.

Even Google isn't turning anything up about mass identity fraud.

Except no one's credit card info was stolen. All info was kept in the same server, which was hacked. They're not sure what was taken, but no one ever came forward to say their credit card info was stolen. In all likeliness, nothing was actually taken and the only thing the perpetrator got was account info, similar to the valve decision. But I guess it's cool to hate PlayStation.
>>
>>321616856
Oh shit. I was sure it was down for near 2 months at one point. But damn I'm glad I never store payment info or real name on anything.

I can tell you're 16 years old.

Stop posting.

>Sony stated in their letter to the subcommittee:

>How many PlayStation Network account holders provided credit card information to Sony Computer Entertainment?

>Globally, approximately 12.3 million account holders had credit card information on file on the PlayStation Network system. In the United States, approximately 5.6 million account holders had credit card information on file on the system. These numbers include active and expired credit cards.

And this is full credit card information, not just the last two digits
>>
>steam 'hack'
Caching error shown last 4 digits of phone number and any card connected or PayPal email at worst. And email. But who doesn't have exclusive email addresses for each service
>psn hack
All credit card details and personal info were leaked
>>
>>321617427
sony stored credit card information and billing information in plain text on old unpatched apache servers. they didnt give a flying fuck about security because it would have cost money to fix.
>>
>>321611684
Nobody cares that Valve is a microtransaction company either.
>>
HATE PLAYSTATION
>>
>>321617585
>And email. But who doesn't have exclusive email addresses for each service

Yes! I believe this is a very good strategy, and I can confirm that I use it myself.
>>
>>321611981
>Somebody now has your phone number
No, he hasn't because I didn't leave it.
>address
No, he hasn't because I didn't leave it.
>and Steam Wallet amount
All the 0s.

It's literally nothing.
>>
>>321617991
No one had any of that but steam wallet revealed. Only the last 4 digits of phone number and only your country was revealed
>>
>>321617417
Not him, but ok?
>>
>>321618173
It's just damage control. He's wrong and doesn't want to admit it
>>
>>321617603
If it was plain text, why isn't there mass identity fraud and millions of people losing money to random hackers?

I'm genuinely confused.
>>
>>321618443
Because people weren't retarded and cancelled their card
>>
>>321611981
>phone number
It doesnt show the entire number, just the last 4 digits
>address
Oh man theyre gonna sign me up for spam or porn sites, god forbid.
>steam wallet
>keeping expendable money or cc info lying around on an account
>>
>>321618443
large amounts of card numbers are not uncommon to be lost, but usually the people who grab them arent the ones who use them. you collect as many as you can and you sell them to someone else.

banks are pretty quick to catch stuff like that anyways, especially after the information of the leak is made aware to them.
>>
>>321613809
Send spam to your phone or email. Truly these are the end times.
>>
>>321618893
Not even you phone. Only last 4 digits got displayed
>>
>>321618817
>you collect as many as you can and you sell them to someone else.
And that someone else wouldn't abuse them? You're telling me that credit card info just keeps changing hands with nothing ever happening?
>>
>>321619231
Yes it happens all the time. Don't you check atms for cameras?
