Just want to remind everyone that N&B's direction was 100% Rare's doing and MS took absolutely no creative authority over it

After watching the dev interviews on Rare Replay i finally believe it.

You hear the devs talk about Banjo Kazooie/Tooie and they sound like the Rare you know and love.

The moment they start talking about Nuts&Bolts you realize these people are out of their mind.
>>
>>321603023
Wasn't Nuts N Bolts team completely different? I remember hearing that, even though it was Rare's fault, pretty much everyone important in Rare was already gone
>>
Nuts and Bolts was fun as fuck, bye
>>
>>321603673
I honestly think it was just "decent"

I don't agree with the "It's a good game, but not a good Banjo game" notion, I think it'd be a 75/100 with or without the Banjo universe

Its a game with wonderful graphics, an amazing soundtrack and a genuinely fun gimmick all wasted on a game masquerading on Banjo.

I spent more time building stuff and playing multiplayer than going back to the single player after i beat the final boss. I never want to 100% that game because its challenges and worlds are boring as fuck.

I still to this day believe it's some kind of Stockholm syndrome. Probably not from MS, but most likely a crazy rationalist of the dev crew.

Do you really think they would take shit on a interview about the company they work for?

No, but if it was MS pulling the strings on them, they would've been acting differently, n'a mean?

Seeing as Chris Seavor, the guy who shit talks everything said it wasn't MS' doing I'm inclined to believe it's true.

Party animals is just a mini-game adaptation of the cartoon. I got it by accident as a gift when the gifter didn't realize there was more than on VP game

At least Retro has taken Rares place.

Goldeneye HD was never released because of Nintendo. Microsoft said yes, activision(or whoever had the Bond gaming license at the time) said yes, and even Nintendo originally said yes. But then they back outed because they wanted exclusivity.

I feel like David Wise forgot why everyone loved the soundtrack to DKC2 and played it way too safe with this game.

Theres not even much DKC2 fanservice either, just Stickerbrush Symphony and Lockjaw Saga.

Weren't these the ones who helped make Halo MCC
>>
>>321607546
Yeah, they worked on the only portion that actually was good and worked.

I loved all the music and thought David did a great job with it.

But I haven't played DKC2 so what do I know.

This is the best song though.

Should I play DK1 first? I have some left over E-shop money I could to buy them.
>>
>>321608421
Both are ridiculously good. 3 is a bit weird but still ok
>>
>>321608421
That's embarassing
Just play them already in whatever order you wanr
>>
>>321605385

I sincerely hope so. Even if not, it seems to have the personality of the old games, and the soundtrack alone will hopefully be worth the 25 I paid
>>
>>321607840
I don't see why Microsoft will make Perfect Dark 3 though

Why would they want another sci-fi FPS when they got Halo?
>>
>>321608421

If you can only buy one, buy DKC2. Doesn't matter the play order. All 3 are worth a play though, whether you buy or emulate

Is anyone having a problem with legacy capthca? I can't solve it no matter how many tries, stupid outline letters
>>
>>321608745
I'm afraid they'll make another glib facsimile. I want it to be like Banjo Kazooie, but I don't want a rehash
>>
>>321608768
Because Halo and Perfect Dark are pretty different. Also there is that rumor that the new Perfect Dark would be third person not first.

If I recall Chris was shaky on MS, and had to stop himself numerous times during his commentary regarding them.

>>321605498
>There's absolutely no reason to assume MS is the one at fault when EVERYONE, both current and ex employees, say that Rare made the choice

First off, how many people do we have going on record to talk about MS' involvement with NnB? LIke six, eight max? Not hard to get that many people on the same page for PR purposes, and it's not inconceivable for their PR department to keep tabs on what their fellow employees tell the press. In this day and age with Twitter debacles it's highly likely MS is no different than other companies shitcanning people for saying something they don't like in a random tweet.

Secondly, even if you're an ex employee, wouldn't you want to maintain a good reference with your previous employer? Especially with one as high profile as Microsoft? Bad idea to burn bridges in this business.

I'd recommend looking at older interviews with other devs too, because they don't appear to be as sure of themselves when they talk about the development of Nuts and Bolts. They look pretty uncomfortable whenever they're not speaking into the camera.

I'd also like to point out that I don't necessarily believe Microsoft is behind all this, but rather merely pointing out that it's not impossible for the devs to be omitting the whole truth.

But most importantly, you have to think about their actual story:

>let's make a new Banjo game, but not quite like the previous ones
>I know, let's have a building mechanic
>sounds great, let's throw out all the platforming people love in favor of this new mechanic
>brilliant, this totally won't alienate half of our fanbase

C'mon. I refuse to believe the team that brought us DKC2 was this out of touch. Shit just don't add up. Obviously something happened that nudged them in the direction they went in. Whether it was MS or one of the Stamper bros is anyone's guess.
>>
>>321611054
>Secondly, even if you're an ex employee, wouldn't you want to maintain a good reference with your previous employer?
Not according to Chris Seavor who did nothing but shit talk them when Don Mattrick was in charge

BUT SEA OF THIEVES

THANK YOU BASED PHIL

Nuts N Bolts isnt MS fault. Rare was mediocre at that time, all the A-team guys were in Free Radical or Lionhead. Rare made all the legendary games in the 90s because they had Nintendo's full support, hell even Yamauchi was full behind them, and that old man was THE most important person in video game industry until the late 90s. When MS came, they didnt had the same benefits, they were just another one of their studios. Also, they were planning to have a sequel to RC Pro-Am which they later used its racing and construction elements for NnB.

I dont think you can pinpoint only one reason, I see it more as a series of bad decisions
