Because I want to go on adventures, save people, fight evil, be loved, be hated, kill people, destroy lives, control others, be controlled.
I want to live a life I can never have. I want to love someone that will never exist.
I want to BE!
To escape from reality, if only for a little while.

Because I like a good 75% or my generation was raised under the mentality that were all going to go on to do amazing things and change the world as long as we work hard. But in reality were going to get stuck in dead end meaning less jobs and struggle to get by because the baby boomers ruined the housing market and fucked the economy something fierce. So I play to both have a sense of escape from the bleak fucking future, gaining a sense of purpose or accomplishment (be it only temporary) and relive some tiny piece of nostalgia from a time when the future was bright and full of possibilities.
To get away from my shitty life, however games just don't cut it anymore.

To fight the pain.
Maybe one day I can achieve my impossible dreams. Maybe one day I can conquer the monster eating my head from the inside out.
But not even vidya does it for me anymore. The last time I touched and completed a vidya was Super Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and as soon as I finished it I never touched it again. The hole in my chest grew larger. My thoughts got more deranged and abstract.
I realize vidya isn't the answer to my problems anymore. I need to conquer this myself.

I don't know if that's purely a NEET thing, my friend has the same symptoms despite having a job.Considering how he spends the rest of his time, it's probably because he's depressed about a character flaw he has and can do nothing about.

I'm usually okay since I drown my sorrows in MMOs, but I'm burnt out from the current MMOs.
So I tried to play single player games, modded Skyrim to the extreme and it's just so samey and every dungeon is the same, the coimbat is also shitty even with combat mods and it's too easy.
For me, it's either video games or drugs and alcohol to deal with the depression. I chose the least destructive.

I used to enjoy games where you have to pull together as a team to make decisions that affect the outcome of the game, the playerbases around these game are so awful that all satisfaction from a 'win' gets sapped.
Video games are fun and I like having fun.
Modern day online multiplayer killed video games for me. I just post on 4chan until i go to sleep.
I actually finally reached a point in my life where I don't need vidya as a crutch to keep me happy. Now it's just a hobby because I've been playing for so long it feels wrong if I don't do it.
I'm phasing out if it. Getting into the gym more now though. I have more of a desire to lift and gain muscle then play video games.
