The problem people have is how non-interactive it is. It feels less like you're really controlling your character.
I like Fallout 1/2's use though, where you still have to target your enemy, reload, and conserve your energy in the round compared to the drop down menu. It doesn't give your actions the gravitas it should when you just click something and watch an action.
