Considering what the game series has become now, and how Assassin's Creed 2 was a genuinely good game...
why can't we have nice things?
>>
This series was never good and I have no idea how it got so many entries.

>Medieval.

That was Assassin's creed 1. 2 was Renaissance.
>>
>>321568734
Assassin's Creed 1 was set in the medieval ages
Ass 2 was renaissance Italy

>standing ontop of the tower with your brother having a touching bro-tier moment
>"Ezio's Family" plays in the background

I haven't felt this genuinely touched and happy playing a game since. I don't know whether it's because I'm older now or because games these days are just shit. I mean I really enjoyed the Witcher 3, but the only memorable feeling I have from playing that game was the guilt I felt for breaking Yennefer's heart
>>
Not even AC 1 was Medieval, technically. The opening segment of Unity was.

AC3's title screen is objectively the best.

2, Brotherhood and IV are great.

Syndicate and Rogue are good.

1, Revelations and 3 are average.

Unity is horrible.
>>
>>321570230
It's all personal preference, most people prefer this due to the story being less fucked up than the other, characters and overall finesse in the game. Brotherhood and black flag are pretty decent in my opinion
>>
1 will always be the GOAT, but 2 is still great.

RIP AC though. Tried Syndicate a few weeks back. Deleted it after around 10 mins. It was so dull.

post yfw seeing this cutscene for the second time
FUCK YOU UBISOFT GIVE IT BACK
>>
>>321570024
The problem with that opening is that it takes too long and it happens out of nowhere after 30 minutes of boring fetch quests in a fucking boat.
>>
Some more feel moments:

>beating up douchio
>fucking Cristina and running from the guards
>witnessing your father and brothers hanging
>it's a me, mario!
>honoring petruccio by collecting feathers
>>
>>321572594
Fuck the feathers.

Fistfighting the Pope was pretty neat though, mainly due to the sheer absurdity.
>>
>>321572594
>beating duccio again

>>
AC2 is literally one of the best games ever made. Few other games make me feel how that game made me feel.
>>
>>321572594
The flashback missions in Brotherhood where Cristina dies at the end were packed with feels.
>>
I'm replaying it now actually, started couple days ago, thought it would be awesome too, but holy fuck it's shit, that fucking greygoo filter on everything makes DX:HR look innocent, AI is horrendous, I'm just backstabbing everything and no one seems to give a shit, the 2 first cities so far are bland and there is nothing to do, it really didn't age very well, I played AC4 for the first time a couple of months ago and it was a blast compared to this, at least it looked really awesome and was actually fun instead of this tryhard bullshit. I really thought this game was better.

That's when I knew they were going to milk these series, if AC2's expansions released as games were not enough of a hint

>>321575369
I don't get why people think Brotherhood is that good. It's got a cartoon villain and it's swimming in filler stuff. It's a glorified DLC.

Black Flag > AC2 = AC1 (worse gameplay but better narrative) > Rogue > Brotherhood = Revelations

Speaking of AC. Black Flag is on sale for $10 on Steam, lowest it's been since release and still higher than games that came out after it.

Is it a good one to pick up? I heard optimization is absolute garbage.

>not enjoying a fistfight with the fucking Pope

Black Flag is pretty great. I played it on a 680 and it ran nicely with most things maxed out.
>>
>>321577005
You need to tweak the settings a bit (and a couple more on nvidia's control panel if you got an nvidia card). Google is your friend. Took me half an hour to get stable FPS.
>>
I've never been too big of a fan of the assassin's creed series but I loved assassins creed 2 and black flag. Is Assassins creed Rogue worth getting? I feel like I want it but I don't know what the draws are to the game besides the ship combat.
>>
>>321577382
It's Black Flag in a winter setting with a slightly better protagonist and much more interesting story.
>>
>>321577382
Game is comfy, memory story is decent because the templars are actually good, but they really haven't used all the opportunities they had with it and just went with "save the world". Modern plot line is kinda all over the place since you just hack computers and get tidbits of information, the only redeemer is the very last part.
>>
>>321568734
AssCreed 2 was the beginning of the end of the series. It was the acceptance of the open world mediocre stealth gameplay that killed the series before it could really start. They had a chance. They could have improved the gameplay of AssCreed for the sequel. Nope, instead they went GTA: Italy and that was that.

At least the modern day bullshit was hilarious and fun, but the new games don't have much of that.

AssCreed: 7/10
II: 3.5/10
Brotherhood: 5.5/10
Revelations: 5/10
III: 5/10
Liberation: 2.5/10
Black Flag: 6.5/10
Rogue: 6.5/10
Unity: 4/10

>>321577005
I had no problem running it on my PC when I played it two years ago.

If you liked II, you should like Black Flag. Just be aware that the gameplay hasn't really changed at all and there are a lot of trailing quests that suck.

It probably has the best story of the AssCreed games and the modern day bullshit is okay.

If you like that, I would also then suggest Rogue. Story and characters aren't as good, but are still solid, and there are hardly any trailing quests which makes actually playing the game a tad more enjoyable.
>>
>>321577094
that sounds like a dril tweet
>>
>>321577975
This.

In a series called "Assassin's Creed", I should feel like an assassin; not a glorified errand boy.

>>
>>321570024
Agreed. AC3 was the better game, imo. It was a janky game in a lot of areas, but it felt damn ambitious. I wouldn't call it a good game -- god no -- but I enjoyed a decent amount of it.

And the commercial for the game will never not get me hyped. The build-up for the game was so good.

>Far Cry gets milked to death instead
>The AssCreed game coming in 2017 will be shit anyway
>>
>>321578439
I get what you're saying gameplay-wise, but story-wise it implies a lot about the way the Assassins evolved. In Italy they're actually trying to gain some sort of power to fight the Templars with when back in the Holy Land they had one purpose and one purpose only: to hinder and kill the Templars and their cause.

You could say that the change in gameplay in the next games was due to the change in the Assassin's philosophy over time.
>>
>>321577975
So true, AC1 might have wonky gameplay mechanics, but each assassination was unique and memorable: stalking the crazy doctor in the Knight-Hospitaliers sickbay, the dude poisoning his party, crazy influential merchant who gives no fucks and stabs people in broad daylight, the executioner, the slave trader etc... The sequels' assassinations lacked any memorability except going against the Borgias and the Pazzi conspirators in AC2
>>
>>321579402
I and III are the only games where I kinda felt like an assassin. Mostly because I also merely played a pawn in those games.

FYI, the Renaissance (Rinascimento) was an artistic period - not an age - started in the medieval period end ended in the modern period. What you're talking about is the Modern Age.

Ciao.
>>
I've only actually put time into 2, 4 and Syndicate, and I've enjoyed each of them. How many of you actually played Syndicate? Scaling buildings really quick with the rope dart is cool as fuck and you can run over children with horse-drawn carriages. I haven't been paying that much attention to the story but there are nice touches like how some assassinations are referenced as having disrupted trade/medicine in the city

I started it today. I only played the first mission, but there are some little things that give me hope.

I'll probably put a couple hours into the game tonight. I have a hard time sticking with games, but I usually plow through the AssCreed games because they're easy to get through and I know I won't be doing any endgame stuff after beating the game.
>>
>>321582514
One of the creative directors and the lead game designer of Primal are guys who have not worked on a Far Cry game previously, so they may bring some new stuff to the series.
>>
>>321583727
Well that's good I guess. Primal souns interesting. Was there any other info on it other than the first trailer? I havent even looked
