Hold Z while standing right on the edge, you'll put up the lightest (and biggest) shield possible, when marth uses his up-b, he'll hit the shield, get knocked back, miss the ledge and fall to his death

It's lightshielding - you've got the technique right, it's just a light (non-clicking) press with the L or R buttons.

I know what marth killer is, i just explained it exactly. Also I prefer to use Z for this because it's always the lightest shield, you don't have to worry about pressing L or R too hard and getting a heavier shiled

Unfortunately I'm not in a location crowded enough for weeklies, or even monthlies. There's like 4 tournaments a year at best and I'd have to travel for hours just to get my ass whooped in 4 minutes. I've accepted it though. Enjoy being privileged enough to be playing the best damn game there is.

Thanks, but enjoy enjoying a game known for fans who will travel for hours just to play for half a day or so. Even if you get whooped, you're playing against other people. I had the same feeling. It suck getting trounced, but then I played a random and he could /not/ beat me. That shit made everything worth it, made me spend the time and money to go out of my way to tourneys, even if I place 63rd out of 64.

Medz is really good. There's no shame. First time I played him I constantly got three stocked. That was in PM though. Tai was the only PR in Melee I played and that ended up going roughly the same.

Almost everyone will tell you not to fight level 9s. Like you said, they're not human-like and will make you adapt to fighting mostly jabs. I'd recommend just using a level 1-3 if you have nobody to play with.

Well you could do two things, depends mainly on who you're planning to play but you could download the 20xx pack and practice combos against lvl 3 or 5 ai or you could try to compensate for different di's and tech chases m2k style but i'd recommend 20xx for a lot of reasons. People could probably give you good advice if you figure out who you want to learn.

Download 20XX since the CPUs will do random DI and tech. still fight them at the lower levels. It doesn't beat fighting real people but it's better than the default CPUs.

I picked up Yoshi for fun and hes pretty fun
Fox is about the same for me as he was before. I think I have pushed my techskill with him to the edge of what I can do for now. My neutral with him is alright, but not the best.
I need to keep working on my lasers with Falco and try to break my habit of always approaching with laser laser dair. He's probably my best character tho.
My Marth is feeling crispy, but I need to work on converting stray hits into combos.
I only play Sheik for fun against spacies, and I think I'm alright with her.
I feel like my Ness has deteriorated, but I'm not to worried about staying good with him.
My Marios are okay, but I feel like I could be better with them. I also feel like I don't know what to do with them.
I think Samus is fun to play against spacies, but no one else. I need work killing with her.
My DK is about as good as it is ever going to be.
I really want to be good with ICs but I don't understand the character enough to keep getting better. I hope playing more will let me learn.
My Pika and YL could both use work.
And thats all of the characters I can play. Keep in mind that most of these are for friendlies.
