Wait, has everyone just forgot about this?

Has anything else happened? Have Valve made a statement or offered any apology?
Even if it wasnt a hack and it was a problem on their end peoples personal information was publicly displayed. This is unacceptable for any company that assures us such a thing could never happen.
>>
>>321537165
Compensation will be distributed soon, free copies of L4D2 and Portal for everyone affected.
>>
>>321537165
Same shit as always. "X is finished" "I will never forgive X" couple days later everyone's forgotten and no one gives a shit

SteamCommunity has been down for about the past 2 hours.
>>
What happened? I can't log on to my old steam account to open my wallet for gabe because I have forgotten my e-mail has there been a breach or something? I would love a chance at finding out my old e-mail, their support really sucks these days.
>>
is it safe to play my games yet?

>valvefags claimed there was nothing wrong with having to log into steam to play your games
>>

You were always safe. You were fooled into panicking by twats who thrive on the idea of people getting worked up.
>>
>>321537165
Its okay, man. Its Steam/Gabe, they do no wrong. Everything is a-okay, no one is mad. Everything that happened yestetday has been forgotten. :)
>>
>>321537165
It was an email address and the last 4 digits of your card, if and only if you were one of the few people affected.

You can get more info reading over someone's shoulder at the library.

So Valve still hasn't said anything other than "Oops" and only to a couple of shitty game journos?

It's gotta be bad when fucking Slowtaku gets word out first.
>>
>>321539219
It's worked for every game I've tried it on so 90% seems pretty steep.

Then again I only tried on like 7 games 2 years ago so maybe I was really lucky.
>>
>>321538493
It was a caching error that showed your address, phone number, and that was it.
The panic was overblown and the fags here editing their bank accounts to show that they had money taken out weren't helping.
>>
>>321538025
Completely false.

Real names, phone numbers, addresses, and credit card information was revealed.
>>
>>321541143
Kotaku was literally just reposting SteamDB's tweets.

And absolutely nothing happened to anyone. You can keep whining about muh personal information all you want but you're not getting anything from Valve and if you're so fucking worried about having your identity stolen or whatever, why in fuck's name would you have your full name, home address and credit card info stored on Steam? Not that anyone could actually do fuck all with any of that information but you have fun panicking and being mad.
>>
>got an e-mail 10 hours ago

i-is it safe, /v/?
>>
>>321541530
Pretty much. People freaked the fuck out because everyone else told them to but it wasn't a big deal. Just lots of retards panicking for no reason
>>
>>321541143
...Kotatku didn't report on it first.
Everyone on the fucking internet was yelling and screaming about it.
>>
Litteraly nothing happened.
>>
>>321541559
Yes. The issue was fixed at least 15+ hours ago.

My hero totalcancer claims we should start using Origin.

Thoughts?

>but muh billing name
Change your name, it's not like you've wanted to be named Faggot McSuckadick your entire life
>>
>>321537165
You literally couldn't do anything with people's accounts though.
Yeah you could see their addresses and phone number but that's it.
There is real no proof of any real damage done by it.
Why do they need to apologize?
>>
>>321541514
last 4 digits of your credit card number. Expiry date, cvv and everything else wasnt
>>
Thanks to steam cache error, my apartment now serves as ISIS HQ and they are playing MGSV, deleting games from my wishlist and gifting all my items to friends.
>>
>>321542170
Wow I was so worried thanks bro
>>
>>321542170
Yes, this seems like a reasonable thing to do.
Change your name, cancel your credit card, move somewhere else, get a new phone service provider, have everyone you know murdered and get in contact with the FBI for witness protection.

Because some Romanian teenager out there knows your name and the last 2 digits of your credit card.

Game over man.
>>
>>321542274
This, yes it was the last 4 digits of your CC, but what can you do with that?
Nothing.

Everyone forgot about it because literally nothing happeend if you were actually paying attention to what was going on.

But, as usual, /v/ sperged the fuck out with massive overreactions at nothing and a bunch of console wars bullshit with people just making shit up to spur on the drama and become the centre of attention for le epic /r/4chan screencaps.

Seriously why the fuck does everyone overreact here. It's fucking nuts. Is it just all the condensed autism?

>Hacking Steam on christmas and stealing potential money.

This much be the work of the grinch.
>>
>Private info gets leaked
>Relax, it's just stuff they could have gotten in a phone book anyway
The point for me isn't how much info was leaked, just that it was leaked at all. How fucking incompetent is steam to let this happen, and not say a goddamn thing about it for hours while their userbase freaks out?
>>
>>321546286
what's even worse is that the valvedrones on here defend valve and steam even though this is unacceptable, and yet again lay the blame on the affected users
>hurr durr u shoodn't keep ur info tharr anyway
>gaben's cock tastes so good!
>it's all ur fault anyway, ur not entitled to compensation
>who cares that they got our private info, it's my mom's credit card anyway
>>
>>321545592
>implying a phone book has your email address
>>
I don't know where the 'phone book' meme came from, but here's my $0.02, based on the seven pages I captured when refreshing:

You got:

>Their Region
>Steam Wallet amount
>Purchase history
>Last two digits of their credit card (if applicable)
>E-mail address (if Steam Guard or Paypal is used)
>Last 4 digits of their phone number (if applicable)

If someone had thought to make a scraper, those e-mail addresses are officially compromised and will get flooded with spam. Worst-case scenario: The e-mails become unusable because of the risk of hacking/phishing/viruses.

That's kind of a big deal, especially when you're like me and have held an e-mail address for close to ten years
