I bought both, at home I play the Wii U and when not home the 3DS respectively. Great for playing with friends together.
Ive never experienced anything wrong with it. Doesnt seem small, controls can be changed as well, doesnt feel wrong, framerate doesnt change really either.
The only thing could hinder your playing of it is if you have blind mole eyes or swollen claw hands, at which point it becomes a personal issue

Not him, but part of the point of Smash is getting buds together to play. Smash 3DS is exclusively single player except for FG internet roulette unless all your friends have a 3DS with Smash as well, and even then it's not the same.

Stage and game mode wise Smash 3DS is good, and it is fun if you really like smash to the point you'd do it online or alone, but it's not really top priority, wii u one sure is the go to if you actually get a wii u. I'd say Monster Hunter is the go to, really.
