I've been playing this for the past couple days and it's so fucking good. Great balance and variety of characters/weapons, fairly difficult, and pretty cheap.
What do you guys think?
Pretty fun. Spending lots of time on it.

I haven't even coming close to clearing world 1 yet. I get to about 1-3 and just died. Furthest I've gone is 1-4 and I died instantly because I was surrounded with 1 health. What's the best character for an easy run to get a better grip on the game? I've mostly just been using Melting because I like Melting.

Since you're on a Y.V. kick, I'd recommend Steroids as he's all offense as well. Worse Ultra Mutations, but better overall loadout. Rebel's the other offensively-focused character, but she sacrifices health for offensive benefit. The other characters are more conservative, especially Crystal, Eyes, and Robot, so as long as you play like Y.V. without assuming you can kill everything in one shot you should be alright.
Also, never underestimate Eyes. He's good practice for conservative play styles. His passive is underwhelming, but the fact that you can melee through walls means his active keeps him safe.

God Li'l Hunter fucks me in the ass any time I get to the snow world. Also I've never been able to figure out how to consistently get a crown or go to secret areas; it just kind of happens randomly.

1-?: Quickly access the weapon and ammo chests, and the rad canister without killing many enemies, and Big Bandit spawns. Kill him, and none of his grunts, and you'll go the the Oasis, and exit at 3-3.
2-?: Trigger an explosion on the circular grate in the sewers. Usually found at dead ends and corridor unctions. Teleports you the ninja turtle level with 4 turtles, one rats, and pizza as health packs. Leave the level at 3-1.
3-?: Y. V.'s Mansion. Hit the gilded car in 3-1 with a screwdriver, and press E to enter it. In there, battle your way to a Golden Chest, and take the weapon inside. You need this level to unlock Y. V.'s B skin easily, and for the achievement.
5-?: Take the mutation Last Wish at any point before this level, and "feed" the carnivorous plant in 5-1 three times. Forget where it dumps you after the jungle.
For Lil' hunter, clear out as many immediate threats as possible as fast as possible. Make sure you get high DPS weapons before hand, like Assault Slugger, Super Crossbow, Minigun, etc. Watch for his shadow on the ground, and move a good bit away from it to not be hit by his landing. He takes damage himself whenever he slams into the ground, too, so he can theoretically kill himself by self damaging. Let him spawn IDPD if your're low on ammo/health, and wait for him to reposition if you need to.

Didn't notice the Crowns part. To access the crown vault, attack the Diamond statue in levels 3-2 and 5-2 (and in loops, every second level on worlds that have 3 levels) until it glows and spawns IDPD. Then, kill mobs around the vault until it glows harder and has lightning shit in it, the shoot it open. Presto, Crown Vault. Inside is a ProtoChest which you can store weapons inside for future runs. The crowns you can pick from change based on your number of visits/loop you're on. Loop the game with a crown, and you unlock it, allowing you to start a new run with that crown's effect automatically applied, if you so desire. Each visit past the first spawns 2 Vault Guardians, they fire the Throne's Big Balls and have a large amount of health. You can access the vault a maximum of 3 times.
Unlock Crown of Blood ASAP for your favorite characters to help you practice and git gud so you can learn how to deal with crowds of enemies.

Forgot to mention that Crowns, once 'awake', need Rads to become 'open'. That's why you need to kill dudes NEAR the vault. As Horror, you can use your active on the statue to feed the statue your rads if there's nothing else nearby to kill.
You can always destroy an 'awake' vault with your weapons if you don't want to spawn the portal to the crown vault.
If the Crown Vault portal spawns, even killing all the enemies, and entering the purple portal will teleport you to the crown vault.
