I just got the game today. The having to wait to get new stuff is lame, but I'm enjoying the event courses, but I'm having a problem there. I cleared the Belch one problem free and got the Mystery Mushroom costume, but after clearing the GLA and Mr. Saturn courses, the game said "Mystery Mushroom Unlocked", but the costumes weren't usable elsewhere.

I made four courses (counting the tutorial one), uploaded one of them, and got the "your shit is coming tomorrow!" message. I turned the game back on, spammed every usable block type, used both game and environment types (both environment types for both game types), and I've no doubt been playing for over five minutes. Where's my shit?

>>
>>321476310
follow the youtube video man
You're supposed to keepspamming blocks and place every NEW thing you have
Like for example,if you just unlocked the clown car, etc, youre supposed to place it down at least once so the game knows youve used it
and then you spam with blocks and play around, do a combination of both
>>
>>321476691
I've spammed a shitton of blocks, I even extended the stage to full length, edited it into being fully playable (still keeping the huge amount of useless randomly spammed blocks for the most part), and also I should mention I'm still on the first set of stuff.

...Fuck, I forgot to use the Mystery Mushroom until just now and it finally worked. Fuck me.
>>
I guess someone should repost this:

Works great minus a minor glitch that has popped up that causes new courses that don't have a difficulty level yet to not show the name or have the pop up window, at least on Chrome, can still be bookmarked/unbookmarked though. Probably those changes Nintendo made to the bookmark site that are mentioned.

100 mario is for unlocking costumes, NOT for fun.

Use these threads and the bookmark site. I guess you could also dregg twitch or jewtube or something if you're REALLY desperate, but there's so much that gets just posted here I never have time to play it all.

Speaking of which, might as well shill my stuff.

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/D968-0000-00B3-F0A9

This is a starting point for a megaman-esque campaign I've been making. Find the rest at my profile here.

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/profile/Glorious_Tanix

Boss stages are meant to be played in any order like a traditional megaman game. Then use your experience to challenge my asshole wily castle stages. Many of the stages however still have flaws and the older ones were made before checkpoints. After I'm finished with the campaign(almost done with the last wily stage, then remaking the boss rush and wily fights) I'll be restructuring and reuploading each stage. So if you see something you feel needs changing let me know. Any and all feedback is appreciated and I'll always return the favor.
>>
>>321481278
Block limits are fine, but we need to know WHAT the limit is and how much we've used of each limit. We could also do with more than just 2 layers on each stage as that would keep basic limitations that are necessary without limiting the overall stage. Since we have checkpoints now there's really no reason we couldn't. Vertical stages/autoscroll are also sorely needed. Sure you can "artificially" make vertical stages in a climbing sense, but it doesn't carry the same pressure.
>>
>>321481707
Vertical levels and autoscroll are definitely things needed in Mario Maker, but I still feel like block limits aren't justified. I can understand enemy limits, but block limits really have no purpose. Even if you place a shit-ton of blocks everywhere, what difference does it make? All you want is the ability to clear a level, and block limits hurts having larger levels.

Vertical levels and a more fleshed out autoscroll option would be better for making more genuine levels, but I feel like breaking the limits should be more important.
>>
I played this level a little earlier, and I'm having trouble remembering what the tune is. it sounds super familiar but I can't figure it out.

EEDB-0000-010D-90B0
>>
>>321482254
I very VERY rarely ever hit the actual block limit(in fact I've only done it precisely twice when I just spammed giant walls of shit that I didn't need to. It's almost always enemy limits. I understand some people use alot of blocks for aesthetic purposes, but in terms of making an actual stage I don't think it's ever been an issue.
>>
>>321482595
Yeah, you're right on that aesthetic part. It's been an issue for me. I like to amp up the visual aspect of my courses, and when I try to fill in the blocks just right so it feels more "complete." Most castle and underground levels typically have this problem (at least for me) when I'm trying to fill in empty gaps within walls.

But I can understand not encountering it. I just think it makes my courses a little better. ;-;

Super Puzzle World- kinda like my child really challenging metroidvania/puzzle level

New mechanics- testing the waters of new super mario bros.

Carry the p-switch - fun short challenging level also messing around with super mario world mechics.

Pong- failed idea point is to play pong with bowser by using Yoshi to spit back the fire balls

Metroidesque- My most accessible level, not very metroid like aside from the costumes. Fun to play.

Zero Suit Scramble - my first level a bit tough but very short.

I would love comments what could I do to improve for the future?

>Mega Piranha Madness
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/6C0A-0000-0015-3117
My first ever level. Made using only the starting set of tools. Every pipe is a potential hazard, so tread carefully.

>Goomba Tunnels
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/668A-0000-0015-BCF2
Also made using starting tools only. This cave system is one that the Goombas call home, and it’ll take some tricky bouncing to traverse the tight corridors.

>Demon’s Shrooms
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/40E0-0000-00FB-BC6F
Based on Demon’s Souls, this is my most challenging level yet. Fight through three challenging boss battles in my rendition of Boletaria.

>Wiggler Water War
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/84A3-0000-00FB-E2DF
Started as a test to see how Wiggler’s acted underwater, and the results are entertaining. Highest clear rate of all my levels.

>Smoldering Specters
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/D831-0000-00FD-5BF2
A nightmarish stage, based on a recurring nightmare I used to have as a kid. Ghosts, demons, and fire everywhere, and all you can do is push on forward.

>Skycicle
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/58C5-0000-0118-615C
My latest creation, and one I’m quite proud of thematically. Floating islands of ice, crashed airships, and no end of blue buzzy beetles await you.

I'm loving the new bookmark site. I just finished my backlog, and I'll be bookmarking most of this thread to work on this weekend. If you really want me to check out something soon, let me know.

Dr. Feelgood: Kickstart My Heart
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/E91A-0000-011F-69AE

This course has two very different endings, depending on if you finish the boss room or if you bail early. It seems pretty popular so far. I'm starting to think about making another one.

Deus Ex Magikoopa 2: Fire & Ice
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/AF76-0000-0115-56D4

Another installment of this is inevitable, but it would take me a long time to finish once I get around to starting it. The courses in this series are pretty long, but they're relatively forgiving. They play like short Metroid games. If anybody beats any of my Magikoopa courses, I'll play everything you've made.

>>321486917
The Muncher King's Castle is still one of the hardest courses I've beaten, but it's very satisfying to finally make it through. I'll play Skycicle tomorrow.

It's been fixed, so be sure to update if it didn't do it automatically.

I'll probably try to add an option to automatically unbookmark all cleared levels(because clicking that trash icon 300 times is a pain). Don't know where I could put it UI-wise though. Maybe I'll actually make it appear on the official nintendo website when you go look up your bookmarks.

I made this a bit earlier today, but a thread wasn't up. Made a comfy Christmas level for the holiday.

Christmas Tree Climb
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/D00F-0000-012F-CC3F
Tis’ the season! And what better way to celebrate than by climbing the Mushroom Kingdom’s tallest Christmas tree? Ascend to the skies in this vertical course, and keep an eye out for three collectible stars along the way.
>>
>>321495045
You have to peg the bombs with fireballs as they pass underneath you. Fireballs will contact their hitboxes through the bridge.

For the last step, you'll want to clear out the piranha plants with a couple fireballs, then run and keep pace with a bomb to the end of the hallway. That bomb has to stay unlit to the end. It'll bounce most of the way up, then you can stand on the statue block and shoot fireballs rapidly to lift it up high enough to break the last ice. Watch out for any plants appearing behind you.

The beetle section after that hallway is probably my favorite part of the course. It's long but fun.
>>
>>321496296

I have the easier difficulties of how to fly on my profile. Currently it's at 1/62, so feedback is definitely welcome.

Gonna shill for the first time ever. Only shitters play my levels so they're considered "Expert" but they aren't the slightest for anyone competent (this isn't bragging or some shit, I'm genuinely confused). Keep in mind I don't tend to make long levels so most of my levels go by fast.
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/profile/Akujii

Speed Demons: A small swimming autoscroller where you become different "people of fast". Not too hard but can be annoying. No I didn't unlock Sonic yet, and I just have 8 more costumes left to unlock too ffs

Thwomp Jumping: Again, this really should be considered easy but it's somehow considered my hardest course. Just be smart at the spin jump segment and in general. You can go entirely without getting hit.

Metal Cap Cave: Patience is key, it'll make this course much easier. Really short too.

Lava with Wario: Mainly tricky jumps. I'd consider this one of the actually hard ones.

Super Toad 67: It's possible to complete this without losing the Toad costume. Trust me. Kinda long (for what I make, lol) but still manageable.

Thread the Needle: My first course. The FUCK was I thinking? My mind must've thought "What could I upload that would be short but also piss off a lot of people?". And the worst part is that I made a harder one but I've been sitting on it because I'm not a dick. Yet.

That's it. No annoying door guessing bullshit or hidden blocks here (although some maps have hidden Waluigis).
>>
>>321465923

Fucking hell, that course was hard as hell - but still pretty fair and really fun. Loved it. Died so many times, but I finally did it - and then went back and got the world record because I'm a masochist.

>>
Is Bayonetta in this?
>>
>>321474936

Phase one was perfectly designed, both difficulty and concept wise.
Phase two, it took me awhile to figure out what was expected. After that, it was pretty simple - and the multiple layers of platforms made it pretty forgiving, which I liked.
Phase three is only annoying because getting on the shell is more of a burden than the actual course. If you could find a way to automatically place the player on it, and make the course a bit harder to compensate, that'd be perfect.
Last phase I'm not sure about, since it took me tons of tries to sync it up the way you probably intended. Not sure if it's a problem with firing delay or if you just have to pull it off perfectly, but it could be made a bit more forgiving.

Overall, though challenging as hell, the concept's really cool and pretty well done. Could just use some tweaks.
>>
So I made this level now that I've finally gotten all the block types, tried to make it feel like a proper SMW world level, also added a couple of secrets in it. Two people have played it so far, neither got very far somehow. Do you guys think it's too hard?

>>
>>321502128
There is a block in phase 3 that you can jump under in order to board the shell. Whenever I do it that way I have about a 90% success rate with boarding the shell. I'll have to find a way to communicate that better.

I'll work on Phase 4 more too. I think I have a couple of ideas to streamline that part.

Thanks for the feedback, it helps a lot.
>>
>>321507265

Not really a fan of using the spikes as stars, especially when the background is already full of them. Makes the player feel grounded as jumping might get them hurt.

I'd recommend replacing them with the snowfall mechanic from the first part of this level >>321495625

Other than that, though, really well made. The trees and igloos and so on look sweet.

It's really annoying that your levels get starred even when a negative comment is made.

Is there anyway to disable comments? Because people clearly don't know how the starring system works and I don't want people to star my courses if they don't like it.

I'm a bit tired of seeing people star my course so they can tell me they can't solve my simplistic puzzles.

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/profile/RashR5

>Bullet Onslaught!
A fairly challenging traditional level in which you have to dodge a lot of projectiles. I've been told it's my best level. An observant player will have an easier time.
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/2E65-0000-00F1-0595

>Walljumper
A simple test of walljumping skill. Pretty short, not nearly as hard as some of those other ones like the Super Meat Boy level.
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/B96F-0000-00F0-FE0B

>Ultimate Explorer (Metroidvania)
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/0016-0000-00F5-8DAF

My first attempt at a non-linear level. Despite the word 'Ultimate' it's not too long and is relatively easy. Explore different paths and use power ups to get to previously inaccessible areas.
I'm working on another non-linear level which is significantly larger in scope and more challenging as well. It's pretty far along now. Honestly even though it's not done yet I'm really happy with it and I don't think I'll ever be able to make a level as good as it again. I'll post it in one of these threads in a few days.
>>
>>321511712

There's no way to turn off comments. I'd say just be thankful you get any, since I rarely do. And maybe git gud, cause if all of your comments are negative, maybe you should start considering what they're saying. Or post your levels so we can judge for ourselves.

>>
>>321520964

Damn, that was amazing. Each level was well-crafted and linked together. Starred every one - and I think you're worth a follow as well.

Second level could use more power-ups - the checkpoint doesn't even have any around it if you die. And another commenter is right, the finale room would feel more satisfying if it was different from the first. Also, small issue, but you start the fourth part literally inside the ship. Dunno if you can fix that.

Nintendo really needs to do something about this.
Kids fucking basically only star shitty automatic/music levels.
But normal levels with minimal challenge? Instant skip.

It's because there's no incentive for completing difficult levels.

Why challenge yourself when you can keep skipping until you get another auto?
>>
>>321531104

I also wish checkpoints were there from the beginning. From day one I was screaming it was a retarded decission, and now even that they are released, I bet most people don't know about them because I hardly ever see them.

Even I don't feel like giving a challenging level a fair shake, because for all I know it's going to go on for like 10 minutes, and then have one bullshit death at the end, I don't want to go through that
>>
>>321531104

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/C147-0000-00DF-9491

This is one of my earliest levels that I recently re-uploaded with checkpoints. It's a castle stage filled with goombas on trampolines. Also has a boss you have to defeat.
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/250C-0000-0118-E640

I've shown this one before here, but it got very good feedback so I think most around /v/ will enjoy it. It's a mix between an airship and a castle, with some donut platforms.

I've made a pretty tough stage for 4-3, since it's supposed to be the penultimate stage of my Two Twins Travel Through Time campaign.

Please try it out and give feedback!

Again, if you bookmark/play my stuff just reply with a link to your levels and I'll bookmark them for later.
I'll play Mario Maker after dinner so I'll make sure to clear the backlog of bookmarked levels, then I'll proceed to finish working on this new level I've been making.

>tfw 5 y/o nephew just got MarioMaker for Christmas after obsessively playing it on my WiiU.

Well, guess I'm responsible for another kid spewing out terrible courses into 100 Mario Challenge.

Anyone been getting a massive spike in players, but minimal Stars today and yesterday? Guess the kids don't understand how to star things yet.

Also any tips for making water courses? Trying to make a good water level after seeing so many awful ones.
>>
>>321533627
yeah, dont
>>
>>321533627
Not him, but make them short or make them challenging. I don't mind water stages, but those made by the community are often long stretches with little to do. Bit Crusade's guy got a good one in his BC2 campaign, and my very short 1-2 water level got pretty popular itself compared to my usual stuff.

I wonder if anyone will get the (much easier) alternate ending to The Assassin, I've added one small hint as an in-level comment towards the end. I know at least one person has found it. Definitely comment at the end if you do.

This is a level with a stealth theme. 2 checkpoints

>Take Me With You
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/3A8E-0000-0127-ADD2
A fun story level about empathising with Yoshi's existential struggle, etc. etc. 2 checkpoints, one of them naughty.
(People have mentioned an error that can happen with the two egg pipes on screen at one point; I do plan on reuploading with a reset door, but for the time being you should be fine if you wait in the two coin alcove rather than on/beside the pipe.)

Starred and commented. I had fun after playing so many kaizo hard levels.

Where's parts 2 - 4?
>>
>>321534624
It's a campaign of 32 levels divided in 8 worlds.
An entire game within Mario Maker basically.
>>
>>321534624
It's a campaign made by a regular in these threads. Quality levels all around. If you want to check out his stuff you can start with https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/A839-0000-00D8-1BD7

but please try my stuff too

"Enemies in blocks were a mistake" - Miyamoto
Fun level though, appropriately tense for a castle stage. It's at the right balance between slow and methodical and keep dashing because nothing can hurt you, there's a good flow going on.
>>321536032
I'm on the case.
>>
>>321536197
hey thanks mate
>>
>>321536032
A-1's a bit short, since you give the player a mushroom and a helmet he/she ends up very strong compared to how long the level is Otherwise enjoyable.

Easy as pi is pretty shit, but I believe you knew that already.

SMB3 Lost Levels 1's 3 underworld mechanic is cool (especially since you see a hint of the overworld).

I still dislike enemies in blocks, but I'll give Bullet Bowser a pass since it's otherwise a fun level.

There you go, the three stars you need!
>>321530542
Your turn.
>>
>>321479792
if it's automatic i just ride it through because hey, free win. not only that but i'm grinding the costumes so it's welcome
if it kills me at spawn or requires pixel perfect maneuvers, i skip that shit. not worth my time to get a headache trying to beat some autist's stupid level.
that being said i did make a bowser level with no power ups and a pathway that grants an instant win, if you can get to it anyway.
thinking of uploading that ish later...not sure though
>>
>>321533225
Thanks for playing my levels. I tried and starred yours, very interesting concept and themes. The biggest problem was maybe the giant thwomp that I couldn't see before it hit me.

>>321537546
didn't notice you were still in this thread,
>>321529405 here, I just want to say that you have got some good levels. I feel that the delivery one should be remade with a checkpoint though
>>
>>321530542
Mailman Mario is great, challenging but great. While a checkpoint would be nice, not having one works better with the theme of protecting the package.
>>321538658
You mean in 4-3? I didn't consider wall-jumping from the left side first, but I thought the twomp had to fall down when you walljumped from the right side.

>>321537127
No problem matey

Just finished my first course. Its pretty short but I hope the difficulty makes up for it. Its based off the general structure of the levels in Battletoads (that is to say trail and error).

Resurrecting this thread to shill my stage
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/5E5E-0000-0137-4A64

A difficult platforming stage with lots of alternate pathways. I tried to make it as fair as possible, but don't be surprised if you encounter any magikoopa cheese.

Also, I bookmarked a bunch of stages from this thread, and plan on playing them later

thanks good sir.

tried to make A-1 like smb 3 levels so I wanted it shorter. Made it before the power up update as well

easy as pi is shit. is was made by 3 people thats why is so whack and it was also the first course

the lost level is from smb3's but yeah pretty much made the level twice to accommodate the subzone thing

bullet Bowser was made by my brother. Though some bs parts was my input. And im on the same boat with the enemies in blocks.

thanks for the feedback I'll give your courses out in a bit
