With curved you get an equal viewing distance and the feeling that it surrounds you
It's why Imax uses curved screens.

OLED has much better viewing angles, no need for backlighting so no grey blacks or bleeding, they are brighter, they use less power, etc., etc.

The reason IMAX uses a curved screen is because it is projected from an anamorphic lens. which means when it's projected onto a flat surface gives a pinched appearance. It's projected onto a curved surface to counter act this.

I just picked up a 34" ultra widescreen curved display and its pretty neat. Setting the FoV for games to 90 feels natural with that wide resolution, and the slight curve helps things in the peripheral feel less stretched. At regular monitor-viewing distances I feel like the curve helps a little. It may be a gimmick, but it feels like it helps.
