Trying to Get good at a fighter with no similarly skilled friends is probably the least fun I ever had with games EVER and I fucking LOVE fighting games.
I wanted to get into anime fighters from SF. With SF everybody played that shit and I had lots of friends to play with but I never really played anime before and getting fucked in guilty gear without landing 1 attack or eating a 10+ second combo in blazblue is not fun and I dont see how i'm getting better from it.
Its a mystery and even people on this thread and anywhere else dont seem to know a solution besides "git gud" XD From experience anything is fun with friends even losing 30 times in a row or trash AAA shooters. So I'd focus on trying to get some. If not possible then find a diffrent genre.

I've trained myself to imagine it's part of the flow of the game. In singleplayer and multiplayer. Dying is just another event that takes place. The character respawns eventually, and even if he doesn't, I can just watch the events from then on. After, I sit down for a while, and meditate on what happened, how I can improve, and then finally, I concentrate on emptying my mind. After I've successfully reached peace and nirvana of the soul, I continue on my day as if nothing had happened, and nothing is to happen. There's no sense in becoming frustrated with the flow of events in life, only to deal with them as they come and aim for peace, happiness, and stability.
If you can understand videogames are as life is, a beautiful gift, you'll be fine.

Real talk: stop expecting to win, start breaking your losses into chunks, and analyze each one. Look at your performance in each area - when did you drop a pressure string? Where did the other guy mix you up? What bad choices did you make, and when did you make them? It definitely helps if you have the data for each of your normals/specials in front of you, so you can analyze what was safe and what wasn't.

I never expect to win. I'm more of a defeatist scrub than an entitled scrub. I feel like it harder from me to take from a match I get stomped on which is easy since the skill discrepancy form scrub to gud in a anime figher is much different and there a generally less people playing. If you're having trouble understanding what the other player's doing to beat you, then by all means, do some research! See what that character's gameplan is, figure out where the holes in their offense are, and never stop exploiting them.

Generally speaking, though, one of the better ways I've learned to deal with stuff I've never seen before is just to message the other dude and say "hey, you're pretty good - can I play some private matches against you?" Assuming that they're not too much of a cockbag, you should be able to work out what they were doing over the course of a few matches, and even if you can't counter it, then you should at least see how you ought to respond to it.

Just look at each loss as an opportunity to see what you did wrong. Try to pay attention during the match, after you get hit/comboed, think "What could I have done prior to avoid being hit. What could I have done to reverse the situation and catch him?"

Xrd was my first fighter. I started with Venom, the second hardest character. I like Venom. I like his tools. After getting eliminated first round at local weekly tournaments for months, I'm still shit, but I still like Venom and I'm still having fun. (You think losing online sucks, try paying 10$ for a tourney and getting double perfected)

Sounds like what you need to do is to learn to play grapplers. No combos, just grab them for MASSIVE DAMAGE with your knowledge of FUNdamentals and spacing. And the combos you do learn aren't like extra long and intricate.

Sometimes you don't pick the character anon, sometimes the character picks you.
Jokes aside I know where you're coming from, I can't combo for shit in KOF so mostly i'm just doing some basic basic REALLY basic combos and playing characters with strong normals and damage, command grabs or just easy big damage combos like Ralf, Clark and Maxima. TEAM REAL MEN. I'm chalking this up to me getting really old and can't be fucked trying to learn the system properly and just relying on winning with fundamentals.
Don't worry about not knowing lots of combos in SF games, SF isn't really a combo centric game at its focus as opposed to say Tekken.

Use losses as a learning experience. Not every winner is a cheater, and every winner loses a lot before they start to win.
Get some perspective on how you lost and don't blame anything but yourself, unless you know without a shadow of a doubt that your competition was using an unfair advantage you don't have access to (third party cheating device, better hardware, some pay2win bullshit).
In that case, the blame goes to the game, and you should play something else.

You can make up for this with tempo and knockdowns or just good old throws and wakeup shenanigans. Like for example I can't do Tengu Stone combos for shit with Oro in 3S, so I just get them in the corner and then just chip them slowly with the Tengu Stones, ends up being like 25-30% damage if they block it all correctly, about 40% if they guess incorrectly once or twice on how to block.
