Even then a good self built PC is going to cost around 900-1000 at minimum, and it will still require a midlife GPU upgrade to still preform modestly after 6 years. 6 years of xbox live is around the same cost as that GPU upgrade.

I built a potato masher for a cheap friend who wanted to get into pc gaming earlier this year. Total was a little over $400 and he can play every multiplat as well as a console or better, plus he has access to every pc game ever made and emulators for most consoles. My build is much more expensive but then again I expect to be able to max out games now and for a few years to come.
The point I was getting at, which you failed to notice, is that for all your 'PCuck' talk most console players have a pc and neglect to mention it or the price they paid for it. Essentially they pay for a console, console games, console online, and a pc + pc games. You yourself admitted this. Note the name of the thread. For an experience equal to that of consoles PC is cheaper and will continue to get cheaper.
As for PC exclusives, again there are several genres that are exclusively on pc and require good hardware to run well. Grand strategy and 4x for example. Attila is a resource hog but can be scaled down for toasters, although it will run well enough on the masher. Before you reply with 'b-but that doesn't count' keep in mind different people like different things. Most PC users with a good pc have one for a reason, and that reason isn't multiplats, those are a bonus.
