For some reason I think birds are the cruelest way of having pets.
Dogs can run around free, same with cats.
Fish (iirc) obviously need their water tank.
But putting a bird in a cage where it has no chance of flying around just seems bad to me.
Since you made this thread on christmas, I assume the bird was a gift? That would suck even harder since there's no guarantee you'll still be interested in taking care of it after the novelty wears off.

But its been too long and I still have no name.
It counted as a christmas present though, my only one. Which i'm fine with, conures aren't cheap.
He flies around a lot. I leave the cage open all the time, and only put it back when it wants to eat, or needs to sleep.
You could argue dogs should be running through fields rather than being cooped up in a house.
