I had a similar experience when I got my PS4 and tried to sign into PSN.

Eventually I just managed to arbitrarily guess my password from eight years ago by pure chance and got in that way. Only to find out that not only can you never change your date of birth once your PSN account is created (so I'll never be able to recover my password if this happens again), but I can't associate it with my current email because it's recognized as "too similar" to the PSN screen name, which also can't be changed, so I had to associate it with my dummy email that I use for bullshit.
Holy fuck, Sony.
