Vita, definitely. Portability is great for any JRPG.

That's what I was thinking. I do digital for handhelds and having I-X2 all one one device to play under the covers or on the go sounds great.
On the other hand I like having everything merged with steam and the bigger screen would be nice, but some of the PC ports are shotty and I'd have to be sitting on my computer chair to play them.
Vita. Being able to stop without being at a save point is a must, as well as playing and doing other shit at the same time.

The thing is that on both you could just download the GBA versions of V and VI, which are better than the PC or PS1 ones. It's up to you to decide if you want bigger screen or portability.

Sorry there's a guy that tries to calm that the mobile/Steam version is better in every way with that exact image (it's normally a gif that shows both SNES and mobile/Steam). But it's obvious that this version had no actual money into it. Everything about it feels rushed with no real time spent on making anything look nice. Except maybe the monsters which does look fairly nice but even that doesn't save that version.

Honestly I think you don't remember how original looks if you claim this looks worse. The PSP remakes had monster sprites and backgrounds done in the exact same style as this.

The CGI still with 3D models walking on it style PS1 had going on is impossible to remake (it is not to port, but the PS1 and PC are still good so who cares) without a complete and costly overhaul.
That overhaul would require a modernization of the combat systems and, actually, the whole game, to become profitable. For better or for worse, nobody buys high end 3D ATB anymore.
