It would be awesome if this game got multiplayer, but the map would have to be bigger, or it would have to be limited to 6 players max per server

What's the title?
>>
>>321337318
Deep sea is pretty spooky, but WAY too many people are afraid of the ocean. It's hilarious.

And these same people love to parrot at the other ocean-fearers comparing how SPOOKED they are.

but there is literally no way for something like that to live in our oceans
>>
>>321338197
How do you know?
>>
>>321338265
A basic understanding of biology and physics, and the fact there's literally no precursor to something that's a squid with a dragon pasted onto it's top half?

The closest thing you have are deep sea whales, the occasional giant squid, and a few big dog sized insects.

Everything else is going to be creepy tall superorganisms with phosphorescence and low energy usage to compensate for the lack of major food sources that deep in the ocean.
>>
>>321338265

There has been no recorded activity of a giant sea beast except the blip or bloop whatever it is, and that happened years ago.

Plus there is no amount of food available to keep itself stabilized in terms of nutrition, if it came close to the surface there would be scales bumping off somewhere to unknown activity

but then again we only know like 15% of our oceans so maybe somewhere there is a prehistoric sea beast still alive, but I highly doubt it's near human reachable levels.
>>

Also, the bloop was made by ice.

Why does it have to be prehistoric? The largest animal known to ever have existed is a contemporary one.

Subnautica. It's early-access, but it looks like the people behind it actually give a shit about making an interesting game
>>
How come we rarely get subnautica threads
>>
>>321342284
Because it's an early access open world survival game. This cancels out the fact that it's a deep sea simulator.

There's nothing scary about night in Subnautica. The monsters are there all day anyway.

The only spooky thing about the game is the grind. The big eye doesn't do anything other than give terror.

Let me tell you something about fearing the ocean. I'm not scared of so spooky plants touching your legs or ugly-ass fish living way under the waves. What's terrifying is how out of the human element it is much like air travel or outer space exploration.

If you crash your car or it runs out of gas, you pull out your phone or get walking. If your boat springs a leak or your sail tears or your engine shits the bed, pic related is what you have to look forward to. You're not on a road, you're literally in the middle of nowhere. It is extremely unlikely that someone will find you if you can't radio or signal for help.

Actually the best case scenario is that your engine fucks off or your sail rips, because your hull leaking is like crashing your car into a lion enclosure at the zoo; you're food and you're fucked.
>>
>>321336891
Great game, though sad that there is almost zero development happening. The amount of content added this year equals two small mods for skyrim or similar. It's essentially a meaty proof of concept. Still worth the money though.
>>
This game is dated, but if you can find it (or torrent it) it's pretty fun.

Captures the deep sea spooks perfectly. You're alone, it's dark, and there IS something twice your size (or bigger) down there with you that is actively looking for you, to kill you.

This. If anybody has entertained philosophical ideas for as much as five minutes they are probably not going to find the 'thought provoking message' behind SOMA very interesting. That being said, it still has some spooky moments and the atmosphere of the underwater bases is pretty neato.
It's hard to say if the script for the characters was good or not, because simon was such a whiny little bitch through the whole game and never really changed as a character. The ending where he throws a tantrum was really stupid. That character is supposed to be the player's connection to the world, and it was a mistake to have him misunderstand the memory transfer plot which was explained 4 times throughout the game.
>>
>The year is 2204
>You are an engineer hired for active maintenance on-board a research station being placed at the deepest point in the water
>In an arguably retarded decision, instead of building the base at the bottom, the entire base will be submerged and floated to the bottom, acclimating the construct and people on-board to the ever increasing pressure.
>Your job is simple, keep the base in one piece until it hits rock-bottom.
>You have some co-workers, but generally, it's just you in your sector.
>Get a a suit ala Big Daddy Mr. Bubbles from Bioshock, eternally tethered to the base, so you don't get left behind.
>Get to explore the base until your suit alerts you to a hull break which you must then go to an exit hatch and go out and fix it.
>The whole base is still sinking, you get to see all manner of sea life pass by on your descent.
>As the light begins to become nonexistant, the more horrifying entities begin to show up, Angler fish being some of the least nightmarish.
>Whole base is beginning to crack apart, internal crews doing everything they can while the externals do their part.
>Lights go out across the ship
>The Demons show up.
>People start going missing.
>Base is on lockdown and getting through the ship is near-impossible.
>You need to stop your repair duty temporarily to get a bite to eat and use the restroom
>It's clear almost everyone is gone as you try to figure out what the fuck is leaving all this damage across the base
>You hit bottom
>A single whisper in your ear: "Don't turn back."
>You have the option of traveling forward through the complete wreck of the base on your last tank of air in the hopes of finding something
>Or you can look back, defying the voice and you will find one of the Demons, so aptly named, and it jumps at you, killing you instantly and ending your game.
>If you keep going, you will eventually rise into a cavern
>Shed your suit and travel in deeper, searching for safety
>Come to a massive wall, it blinks.

Mind copying is something a 1st grader could grasp. It's infuriating. In fact, it doesn't even make sense to even want to be on the ark because you'd be trapping a version of you in a virtual hell that (remember the guy you torture) doesn't really feel real. At least the WAU is creating life with physical bodies. It's starting to get it right too since simon is sane.

do you realize we know more about space and the universe than deep sea?

do you know that what we know of space and the universe is only about what we can actively see and measure which makes up of less than 5% of it?

you should be more than afraid
>>
>>321350670

fuck off imbecile your analogy is completely retarded, the same way you walk if you are in the middle on nowhere then you will SWIM if you ship wrecks, not my fault you are a fucking landwhale that can't do it
>>
>>321357983
Good luck treading water more than 5 hours and if you're in a place where the water temperature is 45 degrees farenheight or less good luck staying afloat longer than 10 minutes without training.

Going into the ocean at night in ARK is pretty spooky, can barely see and megalosaurus and plesiosaurs popping out from the corner of your screen trying to eat me has made me jump quite a few times
