I'd say this. I got the high jump but then had no health when I had to go back through the area right before that to the save point. Enemies had respawned and the whole situation was really tense, barely dodging shit until they finally got that last little sliver of health and I died. I was really frustrated with myself until I saw the high jump was still in my inventory.

Finally getting around to Grimrock II. I finished the bog and am in the ruins. It has a few more mean things than the first did, but it's still extremely well made and fun. I don't particularly like pixel-hunt secret areas making a return, but I can deal having a less than perfect run.

Love Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2. Good luck with the Bog! Watch out for walls. Some have big buttons and some have small one. The one in a cave of the bog was a type I never seen and I only got the passage after seeing a difference between two walls.

I'm starting Etrian Oddysey. Depending on my experience with the DS games, I may buy IV and Untold. Is quite fun but I feel forced to use a guide to make proper builds. Having a harem as my partners is a huge plus, and the gameplay is nice.
I also just bought Ace Attorney DD and Shovel Knight since they were on sale. Good timing since I just finished AAI2. Amazing game.

I played both one after the other and I'd have to agree, even if ESA is much less ambitious than the other.
AV suffers with having too much love behind it, which sounds weird, but the maker must have been blinded by the passion for his own game.
Too many pet ideas that should probably have been shaved and just in general a game that hasn't been tightly designed.

Beat the story mode in Pikmin 3 today. Pretty fun game overall, but too easy and too short, and the last area wasn't very fun.

Yeah, AV has all these guns but only a few of them you're gonna end up using, and trying to use the quick select is awkward with a controller, and can be confusing to set up. ESA just has the one gun you upgrade a few times.
The dash and grapple hook Id say are better in ESA as well. Double tapping to dash could get frustrating in AV, lots of unintended dashing.
Both have really good soundtracks though, and Id be hard-pressed to say which one I preferred
