Is this game meant for children, or is it just trying to get the Fire Emblem: Awakening audience with chibi characters?

Chibi characters seem to be pretty common in low budget JRPGs these days. See Bravely Default and Legend of Legacy.
It's rated C in the CERO rating which is

That's a common trait of 3DS games.
I'd imagine developers feel they can't do detailed models with the limitations of the resolution.
I find that excuse kind of wanting though because Resident Evil Revelations exists on 3DS and looks fantastic.

Damn near every line is voiced, and by very popular (and expensive) VAs and the royalty fees for the music must have cost a pretty penny as well.
From what I played of the demo it's more FFT than FE. Like you even choose the direction you face your unit at the end of the turn.

I've read reviews that say it's incredibly easy, though, with only mild difficulty spikes for certain boss battles.
Also, FFT probably isn't the best example of a SRPG, but I'll willingly admit it's more popular than other titles in this niche genre.

It just works better for that kind of perspective. While FFT and Ogre games used sprites instead of 3D models the characters also were chibi-like, for example.

Also, speaking of chibi design, I was in a drought of good 3ds games and bought legend of legacy on a whim. Fuck me is it hard, but the game has no story to speak of. Just don't feel compelled to even complete it.

Hidden objectives, Easy to pick up and play, fast-paced, multiple endings, and you can even turn off the battle cutscenes.
