How is N64 emulation these days? any good ones for windows?

It's shit, and it's been shit for a long time. If you want to play a few popular games like Mario 64 or OoT or something Project 64(the best N64 emulator available right now) will work, but don't even dream about ever playing DK64 with any sort of accuracy.
It's fine if you have a PC powerful enough for the right plugins.
