So?
6 if playing healer, 4 if tank
Square, be it RPG or 4X it's just easier to visualize and plan space in terms of squares.
hexagon all the way
Hexagon
Hex ring is energetically and sterically advantageous.
Why not a circle?
>but they don't tessellate!
Bullshit, GPUs allow for lots of tessellation

Enjoy never being able to see your character's true form.
>>321190052
you can get more tiles with the square, but I prefer the hexagon
its easier on the eyes and you don't have to worry about rules concerning corner tiles

There's no reason to ever use squares unless I have to interact with the game via d-pad.

Square for Tactical Games, Hex for 4X Games.
>>321190052
It really just depends on the kind of game you're playing.Squares are better, though.

Man, FF Tactics is one of the best games I've played.
Thousands of genius computer scientists didn't work their shit off to bring you floating points and you still play on fucking grids. If I want squares and hexs I'll play a board game and if we're talking any kind of graphics I'll find better than 6 sided shape resolution in those. Obviously 4 man parties should travel in a rhombus shape and 6 man an flat first (not corner first) hexagon. Character portraits should be in hexes.

>Character portraits should be in hexes.
Fuck no
>>321194175
Character portraits belong in circles. Masterrace.
>>321190052
The only good thing that Civ 5 did was introducing hexes.
