No one can forget about the amazing zelda games
Before MML, I don't think I really played a game that got "Serious" or had "Lore".I wasn't into RPGs at the time I mostly just played platformers on the genesis/SNES/Gameboy until I finally got a PS1 and this was my first game.
This is when I knew gaming was changing.It felt so open. The creators wanted you to be in the world instead of just jumping around and bouncing with no real objective.

Holy fuck is this game underrated for a Mario game, almost never comes up these days, still a personal favorite.
This game is the Futurama to Sonic's Simpsons. It isn't as popular, but damn is it better.It also fell off eventually. Fuckin' Banana Blitz.
