What do you mean you didn't donate to Psychonauts 2 crowdfunding campaign on Fig? Video games don't grow on trees you entitled little brats.

You're bad with money.
You don't need to make this thread two times a day

He looks 40 or 50 but he has the voice of a 20 year old furry.
Okay, so I'm going to be totally serious about my position on this "should I trust Tim Schafer?" issue. I know nobody asked for it, but I feel like I kind of have to say it.
I backed Double Fine Adventure and ultimately didn't enjoy it (it's not a bad game exactly, it just didn't fit the remit of a classic adventure game), I didn't back Massive Chalice, and I think the Space Base issues were handled very badly.
I'm still going to give money to Psychonauts 2. I've never played the first one, and I probably never will.
This year I had a beloved series of mine come back on Kickstarter to triple record-breaking success, and I saw a lot of people who had never played the series pledge because they wanted to see the fans of Shenmue get what they want.
That's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2 despite no connection for the series, or much love for Double Fine. I know there are lofty expectations, but in good faith at least based on the desire to do right by fans, I think if the game is funded it will turn out fine. Effectively, I want to thank any Psychonauts fans who helped make Shenmue III happen, by making Psychonauts 2 a thing.
I'm going to pledge not for Tim Schafer, but for the fans. I think they are the ones who will ultimately lose out if this doesn't happen. Tim and Double Fine will move on to another project, and that'll be that. The fans will get left in the dust thinking about what could have been, and that sucks.
So that's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2.

He isn't making it two times a day, he's making a new thread for every kickstarter he begins.
>Mr Shitface
There was this woman at the train station who told me she needed £5 pounds to get home because she couldn't afford it. After I gave her the £5 she walked literally 20 yards and asked another person not even caring that I could see and hear her ask someone else the exact same thing she said to me. Thats what its like donating to Tim Schaffer.
>>321109745
One guy is trying to make Tim posting the new Todd posting
>that guy that wants to buy the game without funding it
what a faggot. That's not how this works.
Its okay senpai I'll buy it if it comes out and is fun
He controls his weight as well as he controls his money.

notch offered to fund this game in the past right?
yeah is going to get funded and I can't wait for all the epic 2 year old goobergraber references
>>321111130
>goobergraber
what?
>>321111130
Notch rightfully backed out when he realized Tim was trying to take advantage of him.
>>321109564
It's funny because 5 years ago this board sucked Tims dick more than they did Gabes, and would always beg for Psychonauts 2 to come out because it was "One of the top 10 games of all time"
>>321109564
Remember, Doublefine means you pay twice.

I never played the first one

FTL was great.
Undertale was arguably good, but I personally think the demo alone was better.
>>321112575
what about wasteland 2 and pillars of eternity? those are not decent games for you?
>>321112759
>these are what passes for good crowdfunded games
Reminder that Double Fine had poor budget and time management on Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, and all their kickstarter games.
Also reminder that your Psychonauts 2 money can be used on other projects including 'Psychonauts VR' as said in Fig's TOS.

Most of the people here are just buttblasted that Tim mocked Gaymergaters. Only his handling of that crappy Space station early access game was truly horrendous, and would be forgiven if not for the sock puppet stuff. The rest of his offenses are blown way out of proportion.
Newsflash: plenty of game experience delays or remain stuck in development hell, some of them (e.g. Final Fantasy 15, Persona 5) much worse than anything Double Fine has pulled. It's just that people didn't crowdfund those games. But crowdfunding doesn't magically erase all the problems that can arise and stall development.
>>321110236
Isn't it pretty much just a trend to post something related to the game and go "Have you pre-ordered/funded *game* yet?", just like Indivisible and Toddposting threads
Tim Schafer is based.
I honestly hope Psychonauts 2 hits its funding with flying colors just so people can finally wise the fuck up after it is middling at best and stop funding this scam artist.
>>321109827
You're a giant faggot who funded the commercial of a game that was going to be made anyway.
>>321115615
Yes, but the real reason people were upset about Broken Age is that it was terribly written and poorly-designed. They also used the money they had in about the worst way they possibly could: paying for expensive celebrity voice cameos instead of staff or hours.
>>321112885
>"memetale amirite???"
>>321115615
>Only his handling of that crappy Space station early access game was truly horrendous,
that's putting it nicely.
>and would be forgiven if not for the sock puppet stuff.
speak for yourself
I don't hate Double fine becuase muh SJWs or whatever the fuck. I hate them because Bobby Kotick was right and should be listened to.
>>321116347
>Broken Age is that it was terribly written
"terrible" is rather strong. It wasn't as good as Tim's early stuff, but it was still better than 97% of the writing in video games out there (low bar, I know). For this game Erik Wolpaw is coming back, so there's a better chance that the writing will be on par with the first Psychonauts.
>>321116347
I liked broken age, it had some clever stuff but it broke apart in part 2. I'm really looking forwards to psychonauts 2
armikrog survived unscathed from 4chan's criticism even though that's a truly awful game, it felt even more rushed than broken age. people get too hyperbolic on here if a game isn't the best ever

daily reminder that grim fandango was a humongous commercial flop and if kotick had the final say it wouldn't have been released.
>>321117075
Grim Fandango was 17 years ago and with an entirely different company.
You guys can say that but its almost funded with 20 days to go.
>>321111832
Hitler saved Germany from a really shitty situation after he was put in charge. The masses didn't know he'd start WW2.
>>321117075
I wasn't aware Kotick was CEO at Lucasarts in 1998.
>>321117441
just saying. the guy had a nose for money and he wouldn't have let it slipped by if he was in charge.
>>321109564
Figs do, however.

>Giving money to gypsies
lmao
>>321117686
good thing I never implied he was
I'll give them money for the game when its out; this is the same concept of pre ordering but with a higher cost to get the game
>>321117934
Then why did you mention Kotick at all.
>>321117765
that's not the point, anon.
In 1998 I loved Sonic the hedgehog. That doesn't mean that I would trust a new one right out the gate just because it's made by Sega.
>>321118226
because his impeccable business sense would've made sure that grim fandango wouldn't have been made. there are plenty of profitable gaming companies with no quality titles under their belts, it's truly mind-boggling to me that these people should be celebrated by people who likes games
>>321118364
17 years ago kotick would've made the right decision if he cancelled grim fandango
>>321118226
Activision dropped Brutal Legend because of all the reasons we know now
>>321118396
Well, he did kick Tim's project (Brutal Legend) out because he missed meetings and missed every production goal, which is why it was published by EA instead.
Figured that's what you meant and just confused BL with Grim.
>>321118594
I know that, he said Grim Fandango though, which is unrelated to Kotick.
>>321118563
I don't think you get what I'm trying to say. Or, you do, but you're being deliberately ignorant because you're just trying to be a dick.
You shouldn't trust people because of something they did decades ago if their more recent exploits show that they, in fact, really should not be trusted.
Star Wars was a great movie. Empire was even better. Jedi was pretty good too.
I'm glad Lucas isn't involved in the new movies because those were in the 70's and 80's, and everything he's done since the 90's has been utter trash.
>>321118661
how is it any different from grim fandango? it also missed its deadlines and it went overbudget
>>321118847
For one, Kotick wasn't involved whatsoever, hence no point in bringing him up unless it's about Brutal Legend.
>>321109921
underrated
>Tim "Ran Out of Money, Backers Lick My Cunny" Shafer
>wants more money
No thanks.
>>321118832
read my post again, I never implied anything about the quality of tim's games now. actually, I explicitly made it clear that he didn't produce games that sold well even back in the day. he went overbudget and he missed his deadlines. whoever trusted him back then was wrong and kotick would've made the sensible business decision if he had been in charge
>>321119015
no right, kotick was only involved in every other profitable and utterly mediocre game. I'm just saying it's a shame he wasn't in charge back then because then he would've been able to make another good choice and cancel it. that is what's important, right
>>321119386
yeah, instead he could make a better decision, blow his budget and take 2 other series with him. much better.
>>321116708
>Bobby Kotick was right
i can't even disagree
it makes me sad
>that feel when the game has been stuck on 86% funded for a week now
>>321119871
>a game from 2003 has an official expansion that takes potshots at an early access cancelled game from 2014
I love this world sometimes
>>321109564
ill buy it when its out you entitled cocksucker
Psychonauts ain't that good to begin with, I doubt years of social justice dogshit rotting Schafer's brain is going to make a new one any better.
>>321120263
What a time to be alive.
I honestly feel I grew up a little from seeing my favorite developers go to kickstarter and prove they're washed-up hacks.
>>321120193
Um, a week ago it was at around 80%. It only hit 86% the other day.
>>321119948
not sure what you're trying to say and I don't understand what 2 other series you're talking about
>>321120193
Goes to show you how popular Psychonaughts really is.
About 18k people are willing to spend money on it.It'll get a huge boost in a week when those fans get their bi-weekly salesclerk/burger flipping job paycheck, and spend it on making their disappointing fantasies a reality instead of saving whatever dollars they can get their hands on because once college is over for them and they graduate with their artistic degrees their life will pretty much be over as their yuppie parents spent all of their trust fund on cocaine suppositories while no company in the world wants to hire someone with their "skill"set, but they consider it all okay because at least their hipster game that they talked about for months but only played an hour of and only knows the plot from looking it up on TvTropes is getting a soon-to-fail franchise.
>>321109827
Someone else called you a faggot already, but I felt like it needed to be posted again.
I mean it's clearly pasta but fuck
You're a faggot
>>321109745
Ok but what about this 2?
>>321120193
>meanwhile shenmue III got funded entirely in about 12 hours and got double what psychonauts 2 is asking
it's a pretty good feelinggod I hope Shenmue III doesn't suck. The one game that made me break my vow against crowdfunding.
>>321120862
Haha nice one m8 but check this 7.
>>321121678
How about this five instead?
>>321120804
I think you're conflating psychonauts with something else. it was a pretty standard 3d platformer with imaginative worlds and with the writing of a good saturday morning cartoon, albeit a bit darker
I want more of that because while I like mario I always felt a greater urge to explore psychonauts just based on the world designs and concepts. it's hardly some kind of esoteric experience that you play for an hour and then ponder upon
