There are only 3 Jobs you need to concern yourself with:
Warrior: Tank that shits out damage to the point where he does more dps than some actual Damage Dealers and mitigates damage better than the other tanks while having a fuckhuge HP Pool.
Monk: Best Damage Dealer in the game and actually fun to play. Other Melee DPS lack AoE and have TP issues, this Job does mroe Damage than any other Job while having AoE that rivals casters and only TP issues in the most drawn out fights.
Scholar: Probably the overall best job in the game. Best single target healing, if one of your spells crits you get to ignore the next boss mechanic, fantastic dps, no mana issues, instant heals, infinite mana pet that can heal dungoens on its own while you dps.

The reason Monks don't constantly spam it is of course MP but in Dungoens you can definitely use it a lot. You also get Elixir field in HW which is literally just a better version of Howling Fist.

Thing is, DRK will be spamming Souleater + Darkarts combo and won't keep up Delirium unless they have to which is a DPS loss. Since MNK's rotation includes DRG kick, it'll have 100% uptime meaning the DRK can spam Souleater+ Darkarts for longer periods of time.
Also MNK is still the best DPS in the game as well.

I got this a few days ago and have been playing a bunch. I both love and hate that you can do everything with one character. My biggest issue is that they thought it'd be acceptable to tie professions to a class. I assume that's some FF shit, but it's fucking awful. Instead of getting a point per craft like every other game, you have to make a fuckton more just to get a single level. And then I hear for the gathering jobs, you actually have to be the job before you can see the nodes and collect, instead of just collecting while questing.
Are ninjas okay? I have a rogue that I've started but I'm already getting bored by level 11 and I feel squishy as fuck.

As a rule of thumb, all classes are boring until you reach level 30. DRG has half a fucking rotation with like 2 seemingly useless skills, until like level 30 or something where those useless skills actually have a use.

Before 3.0 it took 1-2 weeks just doing daily centurio hunts and daily roulettes with maybe some FATEs and leves to round off levels, the more dungeons you decided to spam after being done with those the closer you could get to the 1 week mark, or be done in less than a week.
After 3.1 with everything giving shitloads of exp you can probably do it in 3-4 days, even if you aren't a NEET.
Paladin: The (second) most boring class in the game. This is a damage sponge that requires no skill aside from occasionally popping off a global cooldown. Is fucking unbearable early game.
Warrior: Tanks with ridiculous damage output that have a huge HP pool and great, though not as potent as Paladin, defense cooldowns. This class requires more skill to play correctly but is incredibly fun.
Archer: Class only gets "fun" at level 48 when you get a proc trait. Other than that it's really just braindead rotation based on RNG and jumping around like an autist because you can.
Monk: Highest melee dps but poor utility. Takes some time to master its rotation due to positionals and other things. When Greased Lightning falls off you wan to die.
Ninja: Another melee dps. Very good but dps is not as high as monks. They have excellent raid utility. Requires a bit of skill to play right. (maintaining 2 DoTs, one debuff and one buff at all times).
Dragoon: Between Ninja and Monk with dps, higher than Monk if the fight has mechanics (most fights do). Harder to level until you hit 35, then shit gets fun. Great raid utility after 50 as well.
Black Mage: Pre-50: most boring shit on the planet, Post-50: yo wtf i didnt sign up to play magic monk. Skill cap increased out of NOWHERE when you hit 60. Regular 50 rotation is braindead. Pick this if you like high numbers and nothing else.
Summoner: Not the best dps class before 50, after 50 though its incredible. Requries the most concentration and skill to maximize your dps. Only problem is, it's not always worth it. (Concentrate a lot more only to have dps slightly less than BLM). You need to maintain 3 DoTs, on the enemy, one "debuff" (shadow flare), 3 stacks that refill every 60 seconds to use strong abilities and micro your summoned creature. Rewarding to play once you get the rotation and an absolute powerhouse at 60.

Warrior is actually a bit too far ahead of the other two so I dont expect it to stay this powerful for long but at the moment its the only job to have solo'd titan and leviathan extreme, its also the one job you dont ever want to do harder content without. Its the best job in the game and was the previous poster boy before dragoon.
SCH has always been insaely OP so it might not be nerfed, though its bread and butter OP ability was nerfed in 3.0 but its not too big of a deal.

A skill will notate in its description a "Comb Action" that lists the skill to be used prior to activate the bonus, and applicable skills will mark the next skill in the combo rotation with dancing lines around its icon.
One of the annoying things about ARR is some skill descriptions of stuff you already have will hide relevant detail regarding their application to future skills until after you've unlocked later skills, which you see a lot on DRK.

Truth be told I was an absolute shitter when I first got DRG to 50. I feel bad for the /v/ LS on Gilgamesh because they basically carried me through T5 now that I think about it, I didn't actually follow any sort of rotation until I fought the Rafflesia and she bitch slapped me until I was wearing my ass as a helmet.
Needless to say, when you spend most of your time just pressing random combos and using CD's willy nilly, you get really embarrassed/ashamed when you finally start doing a proper rotation.

I like both healers and I know that Scholar is better than WHM.
The only thing I can really commend WHM on is that their 3.0 tools are nicer than SCH's

In actuality, you have to micromanage your fairy, shields, and Aetherflow stacks PLUS movement, mp, and all the usual shit. On top of that, your group generally expects you to dps as well.

I like running Eos on obey. Most lazy scholars will run Selene on Sic because buffs, which isn't as effective anymore because their 2 buffs that they cycled perfectly was replaced with a singular buff that affects everyone and a party esuna.

Except that fag is right, there's a fuckload to do in the game. I've been nolifing for about 6 months and all I've managed to do is one 60 class, one 50+class, and a handful of 20- classes. I've barely touched crafting, gathering, beast tribes, triple triad, and any endgame progression outside of my first Law weapon.
The issue is a handful of retards like this who scrambled through HW without slowing down and enjoying it. If you play solely for endgame, then yeah you're gonna be a little disappointed, but the journey there is what makes it fun.

Shit DPS+good healer? You can use deliverance.
Trying to tank in Deliverance tends to be an exercise in frustration more than anything, since lowered enmity multipliers mean you have to work twice as hard to keep aggro. That said, a stance-dancing war really does shit out damage. I did the math on it once, and realized a burst war does damage almost on par with a dps, and a damn sight above pld.
