Never take /v/'s advice when it comes to microphones. You'll get told the get a desktop mic because "headset mics are all shit" and then recommennded that you get the cheapest possible desktop mic because "it doesn't matter that much". In the end you'll end up with a shitty desktop mic that's no better than a low end headset mic when you could've just gotten a good headset in the first place. They're not cheap but definitely do exist unlike /v/ claims.

Those headphones are god tier though. I'd had to swap out my cable because I had my headphones in a bag on my bike handlebar (yeah, I'm a fucking idiot.) and they went in the front wheel. Completely bent the plug and wrecked my player, but the actual headphones still work great after a cable swap.

if the cable that attaches to you headphones is still in good condition at the headphones end you can cut it about 6 inches from there and pare back the rubber to expose the wires. solder like to like by intertwining the copper wiring and then soldering over that. then cover the exposed wiring with that shrink wrapping rubber stuff, or electrical tape/duct tape if you dont mind it looking shit
its easy enough. just make sure you look up a few tutorials and follow them closely. i'm just going off memory and mental images here, i havent actually had to fix a set of headphones in a while

Don't use electrical/duct tape, because it will look like shit and might unwind eventually. It's fine to use during the soldering if you need to insulate something, but it's bad as a final idea.

i should have said that if you're gonna use tape as a temporary measure. DO NOT use duct tape. when you try pull it off its gonna destroy the wiring.
if you cant find the shrink wrapping stuff, cover the exposed wires in electrical tape, then cover that tape, and a few inches of wire either side in black duct tape. glue down the last bit of duct tape to stop it unraveling
