As a kid I had all 3. I thoroughly enjoyed my xbox more than my ps2, but the gamecube only had a few good games I played on it. I'm sure there were more but I didn't play them.

I already had a PC, and UT99 was my jam at the time. Switching over to Xbox, which was practically a Halo machine was just garbage.
The GCN had Paper Mario: TTYD, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros: Melee, REmake, F-Zero GX, Eternal Darkness, Custom Robo, Windwaker, and quite a few other great titles. I personally think it was the best console if its generation.
That being said, the PS2 had its own great titles such as Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, and MGS3, among others.

Yeah, in terms of multiplayer GCN was far and away the best of that gen, with games like Melee, Double Dash, F-Zero GX, Kirby Air Ride, Star Fox Assault, Crystal Chronicles, Four Swords Adventure, Pac-Man VS., Custom Robo, Gotcha Force, Pikmin 2, Billy Hatcher, Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2, Mario sports games, and a whole host of multiplats that ran better than on PS2 like Metal Arms, TimeSplitters 2, etc.

Not him and what you say is true, but Gamecube games pretty much always ran better than their PS2 counterparts, and many gamecube exclusives looked fucking great compared to the competition.

Generally multiplays ran better on Xbox. If a game was available for only PS2 and Gamecube, then the Gamecube version was usually better. The best examples of this is Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7.
Eventhough the Xbox was seen as the multiplayer machine, the PS2 online was free and got the job done well enough, and even had great online games you couldn't get anywhere else such as Resident Evil Outbreak and Socom.
Whichever way you went or all 3 it was a great time.

This will probably go down as the only objectively correct statement in this entire thread.
You might need a little extra hardware to do it, but that gen did have some media capability. The PS2 could play DVDs (and stream Netflix in Brazil), the Xbox could play DVDs and rip music, and the Dreamcast could play .mp3s and VCDs and surf the net, but they were still GAME CONSOLES first and foremost. The other stuff was just secondary.
Nowadays a modern game console might as well be a multimedia set top box that just so happens to be able to play some games I guess.
