The point of a silencer in real life is to distord the sound - so people don't say: Hey, there is gunfire! They just say: Hey, there was that random sound.
So instead of ALERT! ENEMY IN THE BASE! They could be like: What was that? Better check it out!

147gr 9mm and 180gr .40S&W will both produce less energetic muzzle reports. .45 ACP is a shitty fudd cartridge, and the notion that it is somehow "good" for suppression is entirely a thing of myth. It has a large cross sectional bore area, low working pressure, and a high case capacity. All of this adds up to more powder being burnt outside of the barrel which directly increases muzzle report.

If you want to know what a silenced gun sounds like, it isn't like what is on youtube. It sounds about like a 22 for most reasonably sized barrel/gun combos. Shorter silencers will be louder, and so will extremely short barreled guns.
Subsonics actually do sound a lot like Hollywood quiet, except the impact makes more noise than most people realize.

There is no issue with calling it a silencer. That is literally what the first commercial manufacturer called them himself, it is what they are called on the NFA form you fill out when buying one, and companies in the industry today still call them that. One of the biggest and best manufacturers around is called SilencerCo.
This isn't like clip/magazine where the two words are used to differentiate between two very distinct things. Silencer and suppressor are totally interchangeable.

Not quietest like he thinks, but .45 ACP still trumps 9x19mm in therms of overall usefulness, with every purpose built subsonic caliber you should notice something, they're kneecapped to stay subsonic, so they make up for it with mass, rounds like .300 Blackout, 9x39mm show this. By taking away the velocity of 9x19mm you drop it to the same level as .45 ACP if not worse, leaving the only advantage as capacity and being oh so slightly quieter.
Also when you need to go loud for whatever reason .45 ACP / Super can blow 9x19mm out of the water with little in the way of capacity difference.

One of the criteria for the OHWS program that resulted in the adoption of the still used MK.23 is that a +P+ round be made for use with it, only Winchester strepped up to make it due to everyone else being scared of some clown sticking it in a normal handgun and losing fingers / breaking the gun, Winchester made and gave USSOCOM 230gr. about 1,200fps JHP rounds based off the black talon design.
It should be noted that this ammo was way beyond SAAMI safe specs for .45 ACP, but the MK.23 was overbuilt enough to easily and reliably handle it.
