you kind of brought it upon yourself there champ

>>320967972
Commandos are better
>>320967972
That game was great, should replay it sometime
Doc McCoy
>>320967972
Never played Desperados or that Robin Hood game, only Chicago 1930 which was rather shallow, these games hold up better than that, right?
>>320967972
I loved this game so much even though it's just a star wars AoE2 reskin.
I wish more people would play it. As it stands theres like a tiny crowd that regularly plays it on gameranger.
I blame the power core mechanic for the unpopularity. They could have made it a lot more interesting and less of an annoyance.
>>320969528
Eh, they're different enough. Desperados actually makes gunfights viable solutions at times, especially with that planning mode you get. If you resorted to guns in Commandos you were either fucked or exploiting the game by getting enemies to walk blindly into your range from around the corner.
Or rts's in general, there never are enough threads made about them
A bitch and a half to try to keep it stable on modern hardware though.
>>320969628
By far. Chicago 1930 isn't even brought up when people talk about these games, very much like Star Trek: Away Team. They're the same TYPE of game as Commandos and Desperados, but worse in general and really a last resort when you've played all the good ones.
>>320969704
>power cores
HATE forward building
>>320967972
I wish Desperados worked on modern machines.
One of the most underrated games of all time imo
PLEASE
>>320970084
>Being a windows 8/10 cuck
Works fine on my windows 7
>>320967972
Uncharted Waters in general. At best you'll get some talk about the MMO once every blue moon.
>>320970104
pirate games in general don't get much talk in these parts because they're usually simulations and people don't really find those about. sid meier's pirates is the best you'll get.
never ever
>>320970165
>Basterd
>>320970104
did this game ever get a PC release?
>>320969869
>>320967972
Best fucking commandos style game tbqh family
>>320967972
Nobody fucking discusses Commandos, except for funny accents, and you want people here to discuss Desperados? Hah
>>320970104
Shit is buggy as hell, 2/3 of available ships are useless and perks sometimes barely work, but I still loved it.
>>320970391
It's a PC game ported on xbox, mong
>>320969628
Desperados holds up really well. You could literally repackage it as an HD edition with native 1080p support and you would hardly need to touch anything else.
>>320970165
that pick just sold me on the game, is it anything like Sid Meier's pirates?
>>320970591
> is it anything like Sid Meier's pirates?
Not really. It's not necessarily a pirate game, it's more like exploration/trading/piracy kind of jack of all trades. There are multiple playable characters each with his strengths. If you're going to play one game in the series make it New Horizons on SNES.
You can never find a game which deserves title of "unpolished gem" as much as picrelated, if only developers would deliver a sequel...
>>320970079
Did not even know this one existed until looking it up now.
Looks like just the type of game I like too.
Thanks Anon.
>>320970393
If wish there was a FPS with the scale of MoW.
>good series
>what little threads there are die quickly
>the only ones that ever lasted was because of loli porn
>there will never be a new game
>>320967972
>>/vr/
Go where this belongs
>>320970921
That was such a great suggestion from anon so many years ago.
But man the complaints when you put them in anything that wasn't their #1 vehicle of choice.
>>320971305
>But man the complaints when you put them in anything that wasn't their #1 vehicle of choice
Patton being pissed off for half of the game was kinda hilarious.
>>320967972
MechWarrior in general, particularly Mercenaries. But then again I don't really blame /v/ considering entire franchise kinda faded away despite having stellar games.
>>320971094
I really don't know why people forget this, it was groundbreaking when it came out. Better than Mario 64 imo.
>>320971074
MoW isn't exactly a large-scale game unless you play on modded maps
>>320967972
I completely forgot that this game existed. I think I played the demo that came with PC magazine.
>>320971094
>Your poor family will never scrape together enough money to buy this game, only to realize you need an analog stick controller to play it
>You will never see your mom cry in disappointment that much
Fuck, that was a really heavy moment for my family, but Ape Escape was a fun ass game
>>320971509
I still download and waste some time away with MW 4, although it is a shame that there is no way to obtain all those expansions with extra mechs 'n' stuff without ruckus.
>>320969869
We usually have a daily Rts thread that lasts until bump limit.
>>320971569
I still have yet to see a FPS with the scale of MoW+ the destructible environment
RO2 lacks vehicles and larger maps.
Forgotten Hope 2 is on its deathbed
Heroes&Generals doesn't cut it.
>>320967972
>>320969845
>or exploiting the game by getting enemies to walk blindly into your range from around the corner.
Which is the exact same thing you did in Desperados. Put Sam on a roof, lie down, shoot a shoot for attention, and wait for enemies to climb up one by one.
>>320971859
Thank god, the game is shit
I thought it was a hidden gem, but I was so fucking wrongI'll admit the gameplay is fun for a while, but it gets stale pretty fast since fast and it's unbalanced as fuck
>>320972019
I was considering posting this, are you a psychic?
>>320967972
>>320972115yes
Such a fun game, if I remember right they released it as freeware on PC.
Assault Rigs was fun.
>>320971894
[fuck you]
>>320971509
One of my all time favourite games. Such a great ost too.
>>320972019
Second Sight for me as well.
>>320972367
How could I forget that flawed gem of a game
>>320970393
the volume of mods for that series is insane, the fanbase definitely makes up for its size with it's autism (the good kind).
my only problem with assquad would be lack of base building, but that really comes down to personal taste.
>>320971801
didn't mods start deleting them? haven't seen one in a while
I'm the only person who ever talks about this and every conversation is just "wut gaem?"
Still happy to though
>>320967972
Every time this is in a bundle, I miss it. One day.
>>320972860
wut game though
I know it's some kind of Sudden Strike mod
I've never seen Outpost 2 mentioned here. Played it with my dad as a kid and wanna see if it holds up. May pirate it soon.
>>320972860
literally wut gaem though
looks like Blitzkrieg or Cuban Missile Crisis but its not
>>320970104
Holy shit this fucking game i played that
>>320973408
but that comes up a lot
then again I guess it derails quickly into 40k fluff overall
Dark Sun - Shattered Lands + Wake of the Ravager
Zeus + Poseidon
VtM - Redemption
>>320973408
What? There's 40k threads all the time and this game is brought up frequently.
>>320973276
Sudden Strike, proto-Blitzkrieg.
>>320973541
My mistake, just came from /b/ so I have no idea what is spoken about
>>320973132
>>320973276
Right here
There are other, older versions of it too
http://www.sudden-strike-maps.de/?path=download&contentid=183
>>320973614
>Dark Sun - Shattered Lands + Wake of the Ravager
Literally no one ever talks about Dark Sun games except to mention no one talks about them. Then again you could say the same thing about most if not all SSI games considering they're older than most people around here.
>>320973739
*Spoken about here
>>320973794
I make a thread every now and again here on /v/, /vr/ and even /tg/. The threads don't tend to last for long.
>Then again you could say the same thing about most if not all SSI games considering they're older than most people around here.
I keep forgetting that.
I just remember the glory of exploring Athas, escaping from Tyr, fighting the shadow-people, traversing the mind flayer mine in WotR, finding the dead giant/titan and his forge... shit was an unbelievable experience for me. It's what pulled me into reading about the setting itself through its standard RPG books and several of the novels. Dunno if you ever read any of those, but I absolutely love Chronicles of Athas, particularly the last book in the series.
>>320973614
>Wake of the Ravager
>For example, due to game engine limitations, graphics for doorways or items may disappear.
Fucking 90s.
>>320974212
I think GOG recently released both games.
>>320974376
They did. As well as Ravenloft and Krynn series.
http://www.gog.com/news/release_dungeons_dragons_ravenloft_dark_sun_krynn_series
I do wish all those settings weren't dead because they actually had character as opposed to "catch-all fantasy setting where anything goes".
>>320974620
I know Dark Sun got a 4E update, but I didn't like it, given that somehow tieflings became a thing on Athas even though they went completely unmentioned before. There were some other issues I had with it as well, but I can't remember at this time.
In any case, I really wish I could get my hands on physical copies of the Dark Sun books, but that's shitall going to happen when you live in Eastern Europe and the few people who do have that and want to sell it are nowhere near you. Same goes for Planescape books. Fuck, I love Tony DiTerlizzi's art so much.
As far as Ravenloft is concerned, I never bothered giving it more than a passing lance, but I might do so now.
>>320970096
My brother burned it for me at the time, had a lot of fun with all the gadgets.
>>320974913
Dark Sun art was the shit.
More people need to try out this glorious game.
>>320975273
I played this at a friend's house I think. I only got a brief look at it and can't really remember what it was like/about.
Wanna tell me a story?
best tutorial levels ever
Colony Wars, motherfuckers. Then again my favorite game was the spin-off one - Red Sun, That fucking trailer still gives me the chills.

>>320975559
Ma nigga
>>320970393
God damn i love the destruction in that game, there's no better feeling than driving a tank through a building and fucking infantry up
>>320975236
I wish /v/ had some sort of a multiplayer server
>>320975720/vg/ does
>>320975258
Fuck yes.
I also loved the map of the world, gonna try and find it now in high res.
>>320970591
I played uncharted waters before pirates and I couldn't get into pirates. IMO uncharted is a better game.
>>320975790
I might look into it, but not a big fan of vanilla
>>320970921
>>320971305
>>320971413
First time I've seen anyone mention this on 4chan. It's a guilty pleasure and I'm awful at it, but still really enjoy it. Recently got it on stream/gog to try to finish it again and failed again.
>>320967972
I remember getting the demo in a box of frosties or some cereal. Played the shit out of that level
>>320971509
>I'm going to be a sitting duck down there so you damn well better be at the dustoff site when I get there...you get the stuff?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at9hxU864Fg
Fuck that game is good
>>320970391
Yeah , its called sea dogs 2 in the USA and pirates of the caribbean in the EU.
>>320976381
I always liked how believable and low-key FMV was in Mercenaries. Yeah, it's still kinda cheesy by today's standards when everything is SRS BSNS, but I bought every single one of those characters and how they didn't overact in perfect English.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxfKZZ4RNng
>>320972216
We used to have weekly Gothic threads like 6 months ago
>>320973739
why are you even posting in this thread then? fuck off to your underage anonimoose xD shithole
>>320970012
I quite liked ST:AT, although I will admit Commandos and Desperados are better.
>>320976991
I also liked how he died pretty much the same way you would if you went against that configuration in a Vulture.
MADWORLD/Anarchy Reigns. Sure they're not as CUHRAYZEE as Bayonetta or MGR, but dammit they're fun as fuck.
>>320971509
>got this game in a combo pack with battlezone 2
>completely ignored this game and played battlezone 2 instead
:^)
>>320972216
What mod? Looks fantastic.
>>320977906
man these old covers are the shit.
all characters in there look somehwat stiff but overall these pictures have so much dynamic in them,
meanwhile modern covers rarely have any life in them.
>>320977906
It looks like the artist snuck nipples on her
>>320967972ESO
>inb4 "it's shit, end of discussion"
>>320978196
Don't you know? It's gotta be art, it's gotta be action, it's gotta be pretentious shit.
I know I'm hugely biased given that I played these games back when they first came out, but holy fuck, they really stand out even nowadays.
>>320969704
>>320971894
>>320973408
>>320975984
great games
>>320977084
I miss my Morrowind vs Gothic shitflinging threads.
>>320978738
It was fun.
>>320967972
Animal Crossing
Metal Fatigue
GOTY 2014
>>320967972
I need to really play Wargame Airland battle....Bought it weeks ago and haven't touched it.
>>320969704
Too bad it will never get the HD treatment it deserves.
Armies of Exigo. The best Warcraft clone ever, far better thanWarcraft itself. And it is never mentioned, even the RTS nostalgia threads never mention it.
Disciples 2
I see mentions of it in the occasional HoMM thread, but that's really it.
Shame what happened with Disciples 3, I did like the city view, for what little worth that is.
>>320984232
>Disciples 2
I could never get into it. It seemed that keeping your units alive till they level up into something halfway decent took hours upon hours and you could still lose them all in one unlucky battle.
>>320984489
Not hours, but yeah, it wasn't quick enough for some folks, which I suppose contributed to its relative anonymity back when it released.
I fucking love the art style though and the lore of the whole game. Funny as hell when you realize Bethrezen is the one who created humans, left the world for a bit in charge of his of fellow angels and then when he got back he saw they fucked up everything.
>>320984715
>I fucking love the art style
On that we can all agree. I also think that D3 mostly stayed true to the art style.
>>320975984
is it better than 1 and 2?
>>320985037
As someone who never played 1/2 past the tutorial, absolutely YES!
>>320984825
It did, but overall it was a clusterfuck.
The simplest mission required at least a hundred turns and that was just a huge pain in the ass.
It's a real shame, because I loved how you could add pieces of armor to your heroes and actually change how they look.
