because atlus is owned by sega, and sega doesn't like to port their good games to PC

see: bayonetta, vanquish, yakuza

only trash like sonic lost world makes it to PC
>>
>>320968047
They ported Valkyria
>>
>>320968047
>because atlus is owned by sega
By Sammy, which also owns Sega. Also Sammy has no intention of changing Atlus' policy as long as it gives profit. So it's all up to Atlus and only them.
>>
>>320968047
in fact, sega themselves are the reason we have all these weeb games on steam now because they were the first to test the waters with a valkyria port
>>
How long is it going to take for the japanese to stop buying the console versions and pirate everything?
>>

When PC ports will have Japanese versions and it won't be as easily traceable.
Japan is probably the worst place to pirate things.

Valk port came way after FFXIII.

If anything it was Street Fighter IV the game which really opened the gate to japs devs

Because as a dev/publisher it's easy as fuck to bring your game to steam and get lots of sales with no effort.
Since there's no physical distribution bullshit to deal with.

Isn't it just speeding up the demise of consoles where the people who buy games at full price are?

I really wonder what the future is going to look like for small japanese publishers
>>
>>320971352
Not him and not sure about source, but it's most likely true anyway. You don't see those Japanese versions in Japan at all. Examples being VC and Neptunia games.

Japs have to buy them from other sites, like from gog for Neptunias and wait for potential translations, they're not even available on Steam.
>>
>>320970310
It aged like cheese.
>>
>>320967620

Sony and MS fucked up by making their consoles x86s PCs. It's way easier and cheaper than ever before to port games to PC and considering Steam's ever-growing user base it makes financial sense to do so. There is very little investment required to open up your games to a whole new market.

People like to talk shit about how PC ports of random jrpgs don't sell well, but it's obviously lucrative despite loewr numbers if devs/publishers keep doing over and over. Especially considering that Valve takes 30% of every sale.
>>
>>320971795

>not sure about source, but it's most likely true anyway

Yeah man I feel you Sony is literally Hitler
>>
>>320971854
Depending on how long it aged, real cheese taste even better.
>>
>>320971854
It aged fine, free run in tales has always felt gimmicky to me anyway. Meanwhile there are lots of things that symphonia still does better than the new releases.
>>
>>320971854

While it is hardly the most advanced combat system tales has to offer it has quality secondary content.
>>
>>320971695
>the people who buy games at full price are?

You should probably learn what profit margins are and what the split is between consoles/PC.

Spoilers: You can make more money on PC while still selling less copies than console.

Also, most importantly...
>Release game on console
>console generation passes
>can't make money from that game any more due to platform death
>Release game on PC
>no such thing as "generations". No "platform death".
>game can continue to make money indefinitely, even through several generations without need for faulty 'backwards compatibility' gimmicks

Ports are stupid easy to do now, even by selling them at 15$ you'll get the port costs back in a week and then it's foerever on steam with no additional fees, on a commercial level you'd be stupid not to jump on the bandwagon, after square enix showed everyone, the other followed.

Financial reports from the big publishers are all the data I have and at least 80% of their profits still come from consoles. This is true even for activision with the Blizzard money tallied in.
>>
>>320967620
days of exclusivity is done.

with the economy the way it is, its just not a good business plan to limit your game to one platform when you can release it on others for more profit

How is this news, other than release date? We knew it would be coming from the moment it was made Zestria preorder bonus. Hell, some people were buying that just to get Symphonia again.
Why are you idiots acting surprised at this?
>>
>>320973096
It'll probably be locked 30FPS like Zesteria. They said Zesteria had to be locked due to animations or some shit though. Symphonia was originally 60FPS so maybe they unlock it for PC.
>>
>>320973093

Sure but will the transition to PC really help keep the same amount of profits?

Personally I'm just curious about what's gong to happen. I don't really care, PC ports mean I can just play everything for free so I'm not against it.
>>
>>320971854
So your saying it's good or are you retarded?
>>
>>320973310

Zesteria being locked was bullshit because modders unlocked the framerate a few weeks after release

>no one gives the real reason
Japan is in a recession and the dollar is worth more now than it was before, so by selling games to Americans they make a lot more money than they did before. It's simple math.
>>
>>320971417
You still have to take into account advertising and the like. You can't just slap a game on Steam and expect it to make money. Otherwise, you end up selling as much as Trails in the Sky Second Chapter.
>>
>>320974041

>>

>>
>>320973096
Might be unlocked, but its hard to say. I'm very certain that bamco wont give a single penny to implement and bugtest a 60fps mode so it'll be up to modders to sift through the game and try to find the magic variable that changes the framerate.
>>
>>320971404

>Port computer

Fun fact, this was the working title for PS4
>>
>>320976147

Have you ever considered that the publishers aren't releasing that shit in Japan because they don't want to? It's legally impossible for Sony to do what you think they're doing.
>>
>>320972578
>>no such thing as "generations". No "platform death".

Xbone and PS4 are just very specialized PCs. It makes it really easy to port and since games are more costly than ever 3rd parties want to reach as many customers as possible which is why exclusivity deals are either timed or they are partly funded by the console maker.
