Robin would be cool, but Nami has never appealed to me in these games. Even the manga knows she's not a combat-orientated character.

Just an idea.
As there are no female characters at all, maybe it's because of Sanji. The producer of the Pirate Warriors games (who is also working on this game) was very serious about the canon, so Sanji wasn't able to hurt any women in those games.
In a musou type game, you can go around this problem without making it too frustrating, but in a fighting game like Burning Blood that's impossible.
So as long as Sanji is part of the roster it would be either fucking with the canon or leaving female characters out.
Maybe they chose the latter. But who knows, I'll just wait for further announcements.
