I'm playing through FFVII again right now and I just got to Disk 2 a few hours ago. Her death still hits me pretty hard.
I mean, I got Great Gospel, all her weapons, went out on a date with her, and tried to keep her in my party as often as possible. If you get attached to a character the the in game mechanics, it's sad to see them go. It hits harder than if you had no interaction with them whatsoever. So if you just stuck her in the PHS system and never bothered, you probably don't give a fuck.

I still hit me pretty good. No tears though; I just felt sullen and vengeful. What really tore me apart was after the game was over and that final cutscene. It made me realize her life entirely and how beautiful she was as a person. That combined with "that" music broke me and I sunk to my knees crying.
I'm definitely going to use her on my next playthrough in spite of the pain I know will be coming.
