Better than Doom 1/2?
No, it's fun though.
It's good but the best thing about Doom is the enemy variety and Doom 64 is missing monsters so...
>>320853368
nah, but its still a 9/10
>>320853368
Worse than one, as good as two.
Are these N64 FPS games even playable?
Its a better Doom 3 than Doom 3.
>>320854457
Doom 64 EX
>>320854457
They're playable if you aren't a casual who is frightened of non-standard controls
>no crouching
>better
>>320855558
The're no crouching in those games
>>320855558
>crouching in Doom 1/2
lol, hipster kiddy who has only played Doom in a source port.
>>320857265
>>320857321
I am so ashamed.
Doom 64 is actually the epitome of quality.
It managed everything that the original DOOM was. Then it turned up how terrifying hell should be. Then it's like "hold on, did you forget your shotgun?"
Doom 64 is an absolute treasure.
>>320857492
fckn better be
next you'll be talking about how short the levels are because you can just jump up and skip a keyed door
>>320857765
nah
>>320853368
I wouldn't say better but pretty close in quality. It was basically the real Doom 3 too since it continued the flimsy storyline of 2 and then executed the scares way better than the actual Doom 3 did.
Absolutely worth playing at any rate. Just play it alone at night, unlike Doom 1 and 2 to get the full experience.

It was a pretty sweet move, knowing how as males- we can't tolerate the noise of crying babies.
So they're like, what will bother bother the shit out of our playerbase?
>>320853368
No, Doom 32x. So manylaughs.

Doom games always had a good ambient music

64 would be my favorite if it had the missing enemies.
>>320857528
too bad the maps are shit and it's missing a bunch of enemies from Doom 2
>>320858923
It wasn't, "Doom 2 64."
It did precisely what it was supposed to do.
I'm only pissed because the Duke Nukem 64 version was censored. In spite of being absolutely better than the PC version.
Doom 2 had absolutely shit maps too, especially the city based ones.
>>320857321
Speaking of source ports, Does the Quake series have source ports?
>>320853368
Spookier but slower. The music and atmosphere is some of the best shit ever.
>>320860015
I'm so glad when most of them were omitted from PS1 Doom. Fucking GOAT Doom game and Doom 64 actually borrows the sounds and atmosphere from it, same composer and all.
>>320860201
>playstation had Doom
You cheeky fucker. I'm getting that shit. I bet the Sega Saturn had that shit too.
>>320860354
The Saturn port is almost the same as the PS1 version, except it runs at like half the speed and lacks colored lighting.
My favorite addition in PSX Doom:

Doom is on everything.
I had Doom 64 as a kid, I didn't like it much back then, still don't think it's great. I'm not sure what it is. To me it always felt kinda slow, cramped, clunky and dark. I think mr. Taggart might not move as sharp and fast as he does in the real Doom games, or maybe it just feels like it because you have to creep around since the game keeps lazily teleporting enemies on you in every stage.
Also the reload animations on the shotguns are just miserable, and the Nightmare Imp is a completely pointless enemy type. The Cyberdemon sprite is the best in the series though.
>>320853368
64>2 so yes
>>320860016
yes
>>320854332
>the best thing about Doom is the enemy variety
Somebody else gets it!
>>320860201
This game was my introduction to DOOM. I played it when I was like 4 years old, and it scared the fuck out of me. The sfx and ost from the ps1 port stick with me more than the original's do.
>>320860634
>>320860354
Why bother with the terrible framerate and a controller?
Get PSX Doom TC for PC. All the atmosphere of PSX Doom, on PC at 60fps.

Doom 64 was my first Doom actually, and it's creepy atmosphere set a tone that stuck with me for years. It was one of my favourite games on the N64. It was actually jarring to see that the other dooms had more rocking soundtracks.
I was too afraid to play without that one cheat code though. I still remember being absolutely terrified of the cyberdemon, hearing his footsteps no matter where in the stage you were.
