From what I understood, the center of mass of a lightsaber is at the place where the laser comes out, so that's why they can use it like a zweihander. But that might be a non-canon EU thing I don't remember where I got that info from.

After qui-gon dies, you think obi-wan would get angry and reckless but it just goes back to the same spinny shit as before.
