Which one is harder /v/? Monster hunter or Soulsborne?

They are both casual shitshows, beat them in my sleep first attempt.
Skyrim is the true hardcore game! You can rank up the difficulty if you find the somewhat hard easy mode too easy, you can install all kinds of hardcore waifus and guns and stuff. Its like all games in one.
I'd say Monster Hunter. Those games are incredibly hard to finish with all of the tedious repetitive grinding you have to endure.

I have never played MH. The only thing I can say about the souls series is that they are hard but honestly anyone can beat them if they have the time/patience.

You need to upgrade your weapon and probably get some armor skills. Monsters shouldn't be taking more than 30 minutes to kill until you get to level 140 guild quests unless you're fighting a big monster like Dalamadur or Gogmazios.

I've got like three or four armor skills depending on what armor I'm using, and I'm pretty sure the resources I need for my next tier of weapons require G rank resources. I'm just going to try mixing it up with different weapons.

Monster Hunter isn't hard, it's just a time consuming grindfest. The actual gameplay mechanics are incredibly basic and every fight is easy as long as you come prepared.
In a souls game you actually have to have a certain level of skill in order to beat each boss.
Therefore souls games are objectively harder than MH.

Including goz, the elder draggens and apex assholes.
They DO take more than 30 minutes each if you are a mediocre player like me. There are lots of videos of japs soling G rank stuff in 10 or less minutes, like Chris-sensei the memeblade master.

It does depend a lot on your weapon too
If you're using stuff like the lances or HH you could probably cut your times in half by switching to GS or IG

Souls is punishing, but MH is more punishing and doesn't let you grind to victory either, any retard can beat dark souls provided they just grind a lot of souls and level up enough (it's actually infamous how easy dark souls is if you abuse pyromancy)
If you ever beat monster hunter it's going to be because you got good, there isn't more to it.

Are dual blades good? The feel good right now but I'm scared they'll be useless when I hit monsters with harder movesets.

The biggest danger with dual blade is misjudging the length of your combo once you've committed to it, especially when switching between normal, demon and quasi-demon state, since they're all different to a certain degree. That and stamina management, for obvious reasons. I liked them a lot in MHFU, but in 4U I found them to be harder to use for the above reasons. I'm probably just bad at judging my combos, you might not have a problem with that.
Oh, and sharpness is annoying. Remember to always have a bunch of Whetstones on you at all times, they probably wear down faster than any other weapon.

Monster hunter has more a LOT more depth to the combat and is generally a harder game to completely understand and play correctly.
Souls combat is more about hit and run with more emphasis on parries with BB. There's no real point were you're supposed to focus on an enemies weak spot, enemy behavior often only changes once in special fights, there's only the option to kill an enemy without being able to capture it. You don't need to stop and eat or sharpen your weapons in Souls games.
Despite that the Souls games have much better level design are a better sense of progression. MH is pretty much all about doing hunts and then doing 1 hunt up to 30 to 40 times just to get all the drops needed for a full armor set. This shit alone makes the game worse in comparison to the Souls games. I'd still say MH has superior and more complex combat but the games structure wastes that sweet ass combat.

the biggest problem with the souls games was the ability to turtle and strafe poke. with the addition of poise in dark souls 1 and 2, you could just smash anything with a great sword or hammer, or just blast away with magic because magic wrecks everything in souls. your dodge rolls have more i-frames in and faster recovery in souls, therefore allowing one to spam it with little repercussion. Souls is only 'hard' on your first play through. MH at least keeps up a consistent challenge as you go through the ranks.
