Think I only still watch his game reviews is for the small chances that he makes a really good point that nobody else has mentioned. MGS has its moments, but going from the James Bond with a slight anime mix of MGS1 to 2 on the PS2 its a jarring wake up on every thing retarded in the games from bad shooting sections to goofy as fuck villains. The stealth isn't that bad though. Its pretty good when the game lets you stealth, though its kind of a puzzle based stealth of using resources and timing against cameras and guards.

Because his opinion is that he lacked the money to make starwars what he wanted it to be initially, but completely misunderstands that a majority of what made the original trilogy great is how much had to be improvised because of the lack of funds.
A majority of what made star wars great is all the cheap people with good ideas they had to hire, and the corners they had to cut while still working their ass off to make the best of what they had.
Instead he got it in his head that all the great things they did with their limited means were failures because they couldn't just buy whatever they wanted. N64 had slow ram. But it also had a CPU that couldn't talk to the fucking ram. It had to talk to the GPU who talked to the slow ram and relay back. If shit was busy it just had to sit there. It also had a 4kb texture buffer, meaning you need a picture in the game, well it better not be bigger than 4 god damn kb. Need two textures well they both better be less than 4kb combined or shits gonna get slow. This is why so many of the games look the same.
It had a killer GPU that couldn't be used worth a damn as a result. Even devs that were good at the system and got a lot of access to it like Rare have said it was a misery to work on between its bad hardware and microcode.
It holds a lot of great memories for me too with friends, but as a piece of tech only the VritualBoy beats it out as winner of the stupid shit Nintendo has designed award.

Can't speak for the 360 never poked around in one, but modern consoles are a fair bit different. Gen 5 was the last real consoles. And you wouldn't load much from the amount of ram in the N64, nor store much on the carts if you could. Its hardware is directly responsible for its smaller library. 360 didn't really seem to have that issue.
And okay maybe it was all the ram's fault. Then why choke the CPU. Why waste money on a near PC level gpu if its going to bottleneck.

MGS2 was damn sure not good for its time. Fuck Legacy of Kain series existed a generation before. Planescape Torment was out at the time. Plenty of old RPGs had good stories as well. War is hell isn't a new tale nor one left alone by gaming even then.
