This year I beat super metroid, zero mission, and metroid fusion, each for the second time. Since it doesn't seem like we're getting anymore awesome 2d metroid games (even though we get tons of 2d Mario games) what are some other games that are similar? I hear Castlevania:SoTN and axiom verge are pretty good. What would u guys recommend?
There's a new game coming out called Ghost Song which is pretty much 2D metroid but prettier

It's pretty easy to make a game with simple metroid mechanics. The porn part is about letting different kinds monsters hit you and eventually rape you.

The genre is called "Metroidvania" for a reason, so check out Castlevania, but other than that there's a bunch of indies like Axiom Verge, La Mulana, Aquaria, that kind of thing

I can't play the first or second metroid cause they feel too outdated for me, so I hope it does get the same treatment the original got with zero mission.
