The event grew to large, 2013 they had like 80-100 people there. 2015 there was 1000 but only due to the hotel legally not being allowed to house anymore then that.
+you also got the fact that people behave differently the larger and more diversed a group becomes. Its the sad truth how pathetic we humans are, we cant even be our truselfs in a group of people due to judgment.

I'm still going to watch it anyway, because there's always going to be one really good run or one really autistic runner like that crash 2 guy.

absolutely wrong dingdong. people have started acted differently because gdq puts pressure on runners to be politically correct, not swear, and not fuck up. it's not hard pressure, no one gets threats or anything, but some runners have had their future runs rejected for poor performance.
it's essentially the same effect as knowing you're under surveillance, you're more likely to act reserved and be afraid of fucking up while someone it watching.

He's still "sick" according to the other staff members. One staff member said whatever illness it is, it was misdiagnosed as mono. That's all anyone except staff knows about it. Presumably, he's sitting at home in Virginia, collecting his contractual payments from PCF, and playing a shit ton of Marvel Heroes as She-Hulk. He ducked out of the speedrunning community because he's making a ton of money off of GDQs, but decided it was a good idea to register a Marvel Heroes account under the same name and post on the forums regularly even though he's, "too sick," to communicate with anyone.
They refuse to talk about it out of respect for his privacy.

Straight from fucking last year's rules:

The runner must inform us of any of these things that they approve of prior to the run. AG/SGDQ should really be limited to only runners and each runner can bring two friends max
there were way too many people at AGDQ 2015 and for the majority of it everyone was just bored. Sure a lot of runners didn't show, but there's no signs, or dolls, or swearing, or general fun allowed anymore all because Jewyama has made AG/SGDQ into a big franchise that parents and children can watch (read donate money to)
personally I'd like to see:
>Romscout and Jewyama gone
>Spikevegeta in charge along with his council (only two i know of are knitter and blueglass but if he'd like to pick different guys that's fine)
>million dollar goal but charity is something like Doctors without Borders or Red Cross or if they want to keep the cancer theme, then donate to an actual cancer research center
>no runs over 5 hours allowed
>only read donations that are 5 dollars or more and 2-3 sentences long instead of paragraphs
>also have a non-biased donation screener who won't allow donations that take shots at the runner to be read
>if there's a call to Grant Kirkhope, have a list of questions prepared beforehand (last time was extremely awkward because they just winged it)
>allow signs as long as they are appropriate and do not distract the runner
>bring back the donation incentives that are funny but won't handicap the runner in any way (ex: blindfold run, one handed run)
