Film teasers don't give you the feeling of what the film is going to be like, most don't even feature any footage from the film, or at least, very little. Teasers are pretty much just there to say, "Hey, this is happening, stay tuned". PT's like that, it's a self contained mini horror game, that announces Silent Hills. It's got nothing to do with the final game, it's a publicity stunt.

I agree, 4 was good. And as much as I hate the "it's a good game, it's just not a good ____ game" phrase, I can't think of anything that fits it better than 4. It just doesn't feel like Silent Hill, heck, it wasn't even meant to be Silent Hill originally.
Shattered Memories being good I'm gonna have to disagree on though, I really did not like that game.

At least Origins and Homecoming tried despite their massive failures. Downpour...I don't know what the fuck it was doing. Hobo enemies, ghost police cars, wheelchair man. About the only good thing it did was the water overworld and you only see that for maybe 10-15 minutes the entire game since you spend most of the time running away from "muh black hole sins sucking me in".
God Downpour was a fucking travesty, didn't imagine it'd get worse after Homecoming, but it did.

That video was actually the video they apparently showed Del Toro to get him on board with the project and nothing more. It was a demonstration of what a horror game in the Fox engine would look like and nothing more. It didn't have any jumpscares that I remember though, but it wasn't too flash I agree. I do like the whole door thing at the end, that felt very Silent Hill-esque.

I liked Downpour's environment since i like out in the woods areas. But the ghost police car was indeed a WTF. All the enemies had shitty designs.
Alan wake was perhaps the last horror game that i enjoyed, and i don't even think you can call wake a horror game. Was just good.
Though i can see why a lot of people would hate it.

In Silent Hill the place would change away from the player's eyes. In Silent Hill the player would be walking on that corridor and then notice that there is door that wasn't there before.
Silent Hill always used sound and imagination to create tension, there was virtually no jumpscares.

Silent Hill 2 had the hole in the wall in the butterfly room, and the prison bathroom as jumpscares.
PT has one jumpscare, and it's avoidable anyway. Everything else in the game is done through sound and imagination. From the moment you open the initial door there's that same sense of unease.
PT has changes happening outside of your eyes all the time, doors opening when you're looking away, every time you go through the hallway door, the next hallway has something ever so slightly different about it, and you never actually "see anything" for the majority of the game, it's all through sound, the radio, the moaning static, the swinging lights, and all the other crazy shit.
One jumpscare hardly undermines all of that, and if you really want to try and pretend like Silent Hill has never had jumpscares, a quick google will prove you wrong.
