Are there any singleplayer games that center around a fast movement mechanic like Tribes skiing or Source surfing? Traveling huge distances doing it is really fun. Closest I can think of is Just Cause 2 but that's really slow/lame in comparison.

There's Spiderman 2 and Prototype I guess
>>
Well there is this game where you have to run through some impossible sky-high structures at sanic speed. The name eludes me right now.

Sounds sort of restricted and arcadey

>>320645328
Well yes it is, but it really pretty much looks like OP's picture so I thought it would be fitting.

If you mean AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, it's not really like OP's pic at all, but it's a good twitch game. Not exactly heavy on mechanics, you'll basically use your mouse and wasd only
>>
>>320645106
Cloudbuilt? It's 3rd person though.

Nah, I was talking about Cloudbuilt, but apparently that's not really what OP is looking for.
>>
Sonic. F-zero. Any racing really lol. Mirrors edge feels fast enough. Armored core, esp. 4. Skate games. Assassins creed even.
I get what you mean, I played tribes, but there really isn't much games like that.
>>
>>320646373
Also you can try fotonica, it's really simplistic indie game but it's fun for a few hours.
>>
>>320643194
Not quite first person, but if you need speed crack Ballistics has got you covered: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WX3J4ob6uY
>>
>>320645106
Naissancee maybe. It's sadly not sanic speed though.
>>
Any arena shooter.
Try HAWKEN.

Just Cause 3 Wingsuit+Grapple is really neat tbhfam

It is funny how Sonic could be like that, expect it isn't.
>>
Most games go for circular layouts or smaller environments, nothing gives you the linear but wide open and huge areas to go through at sanic speeds.

Maybe some indie game will try it some day.
>>
There was this cool roller blading free indie game tht started with a z. I forgot the name

What sonic lost worlds could've been if they actually made sonic run fast
>>
saints row iv with max speed upgrades you can enable a fast forward cheat too

its great

All these games feel slow and shit, I think OP meant games where you can build up a momentum
>>
>>320648667
I tought this was fun looking but then it was somehow more a puzzle than going fast. Somehow disappointing.
>>
race the sun
zineth maybe
brainpipe
>>
sunset overdrive is the best example
>>
>>320655286
It's ALL about going fast by finding the fastest way through and getting the perfect execution.

Trackmania might fit what you're looking for. it's still just car racing though.
>>
>>320656896
Maybe the gameplay itself felt like a puzzle to me, dunno. It just didn't make click. I still like to look at the videos though.

How to spot the underage that never played 1.6 and only played Source due to "grafixs".

Well, some levels have more complex layouts or a lot of enemies but in the end, the fastest route is the one that skips all of that, while it's true that there's a good amount of planning and experimentation before finding the right route, most of your time is spent trying to get that perfect run.

I have to say though, I preferred the game back at release when people still didn't know about charged (pistol) jumps, optimal routes were more than "jump over everything" back then. I'm not saying constantly pulling off perfect charged jumps throughout a whole run is easy though.

>>320658503

You don't know shit, faget, two completely different engines.
And if you're talking about the game itself, it is running the Source Engine.
>>
>>320643194
Quake's Defrag mod is amazing
>>
>>320658625
it's super common to refer to the gold source engine as just source, or to refer to them collectively as "source", mostly among older players/modders. maybe it's past your time. I bet you think I mean tribes ascend when I say tribes.
>>
>>320658786
dude what the fuck are you talking about, people call goldsrc quake more than they call it source you dumb motherfucker
>>
>>320658195
Maybe i should give it another try sometimes. Do you play it with a gamepad?

I've played HL for the first time back in 2000 and CS as a mod back in 2001 and I never heard anyone refer the gldsrc engine as source.

Unless it was a thing where you lived.

That's not surfing though, this is the equivalent of kz in CS.
kz is slow as fuck, always found it boring unless the server had bhop plugins to go fast

Nice movie th0ugh

Mouse + keyboard, it plays like a third person, you need really fast camera movements because you control both your aim and your direction with it.

For example, boosting right into a wall won't do anything, looking up first then boosting will make you scale up the wall, same thing when wallrunning horizontally, the angle+camera orientation at which you connect with the wall will define your starting wallrun speed.

It's hard to explain because it's complex and very natural at the same time, it doesn't take that long to get used to it unless you're really bad at 3D platformers.

Lovely Planet. It starts off pretty slow but when you're chasing the high scores on the later levels you have to have fucking superhuman reaction time and muscle memory.

I gotta say that celshading looks like complete ass.
