Why is splitscreen dead, /v/?
Because two screens is better
I was sad when the PS3 was announced with two HDMI output, but was removed.
Ah well, PC doesn't care about that.

>splitscreen? two people playing on one machine and one screen!
>oy vey! That's like one person stealing from us!
Because online play is so prevalent now.
They make more money selling two copies as well.
>>320636148
>game runs 60fps by default
>splitscreen is 30fps to reduce the load of rendering two different areas
>game runs 30fps
>devs: splitscreen? in 2015? who needs that haha, we got online and single screen coop
>>320635740
because why let 2 people play your game when you can make them buy 2 copies
>>320635740
>not top/bottom
get the fuck out
>>320636713
on 4:3, sure
pretty stupid on 16:9
>>320636624
This, is also typically 2 game copies, 2 systems, and 2 online subscriptions. RIP halo 5, is still great, but no ss is sad as fuck.
>>320635740
Halo 5 and its 60fps claim killed split-screen Halo
>>320635740
The average American is now to fat to share a two seater-sofa.
>>320635740
Sony / MS need that Multiplayer money.
Also consoles are to weak to render the game twice.
>>320637060
Do euros and australians seriously believe their countries aren't fat as well?
>>320637052
wow no splitscreen on halo 5? I feel bad for the kids these days
>>320637860
at least not to the point of being a meme
>>320637920
at least they won't get into fights over screenlooking
think of the children
>>320635740
because people are stupid and think it affects their single player experience.
seriously fuck the halo fanbase especially for that serious cancer
>>320635740
A:Online is so prevalent
B:I'm not sure a lot of games could handle splitscreen. So many games have trouble running with just one player, splitscreen can be pretty intensive.
Even on 64, there were issues. Games like Mario Kart had to remove certain elements from levels to make it run and games like Golden Eye and Perfect Dark would be considered nigh unplayable in 4player splitscreen by today's standards.
Even more modern games like Left 4 Dead had trouble running on splitscreen. My friends and I played the hell out of both of them with 2 xboxes when they came out, but once we started playing on PC we never looked back because the difference was like night and day (between splitscreen and solo play I mean. Not making a comment about PC vs consoles
)
I couldn't believe Rainbow Six Siege wasn't coop.
All I want is to hang out with my roommate and do some tactical shit.
>>320635740
Splitscreen is killing the industry. You're literally stealing a sale from the developers by sharing a game playing multiplayer together.
>>320638562
on a related note, PS4 actually lets you do that
except it has to be shitty streaming
>>320638670
or then again, it's more like standard local co-op.. that's not local with the same copy of the game
