The 1st Mercs game is one of my all time favorites, 2 was fun on its own but very disappointing when compared to the 1st game.
Just wasn't the same.

Mercs 2 was too jokey and had a super duper campy atmosphere and writing.
Pretty lame in feeling compared to the 1st, which actually had a warzone type feel and was more theatrical in score, writing and atmosphere.
I feel they took personalities too far in the second, with too much exposition for the main characters and WAAAYYY too much for those support characters that'd drop your airstrikes or deliver your supplies.
Mercs 2 was fun, but Pandemic overshot wildly with the "Your Own PMC" and the campy writing, rather than sticking to a straight, cold war, espionage esque warzone with factions that were each fleshed out in memorable ways.
