my new gaming pc is mini itx, best decision ever.

put that shit in a tiny ass case and I can take my pc to a friends house ez, it also takes up a tiny amount of room on my desk so more room for activities etc.

>Xeon for gaming
>using a xeon and not getting ECC ram
What in the goddamn fuck are you doing?

My last three builds have been mini-ITX.
>>
Is this a shilling thread or some shit?
>>
>>320605436
Naw, just austim.
>>
>>320604791
My next machine may be Mini ITX, but I don't know if its the best idea as a standard suggestion for builds since you have no room for expansion. Seems like its best for Steam Machine style builds though where it will only be used for gaming and you know the games will be coming from a digital source.
>>
Because its hot as fuck and those small ass air coolers ain't going to do shit.
>>
>>320605336
Nice build. How's the Temps on your i7 under load? The heat and added expense is why I went with the xeon. Also, think its worth going for the 980 over the 970, value, space, and heat wise?
>>
>>320605717
>have no room for expansion
How many GPUs do you need? How much storage to do you need?

Most mini-ITX builds allow for dual-GPU VGAs, at least three or four HDDs/SSDs etc. There is no need for anything bigger, unless you want to run a triple or quad GPU set up with a shit ton of HDDs/SSDs.
>>
>>320604791
>single 970
>$1700 build

Get your fucking priorities straight. My rig with a 980 could smoke yours and cost me only $900 and I made it last SUMMER

>not knowing the e3-1231 is equivalent to the i7 4790, minus the igpu and $100

What the fuck

CPU does not go over 65c under full load at 4.5GHz (1.2v). GPU does not go over 60c at 1250/7500MHz (1.21v).

Surprisingly, it's the most air-efficient case I've ever used since the GPU and CPU have separate chambers and are directly fed fresh air by 120mms fans just millimetres from their coolers.

Only downside is that the whole system is fairly loud when the fans are maxed out at 2500RPM.

Also, I got my GTX 980 for $250 USD.
>>
>>320606146
No it's not and it's also missing several key features like overclocking.
>>
>>320606096
My build is like 1k. Do you even peripheral?
>>
>>320606224
>several key features
Oh, please elaborate. And that's the whole point of the Xeon, if you're not overlooking it's the best value over the if and it hands down.
>>
>>320606246
If I was spending nearly two grand on a PC and it couldn't even run Witcher 3 at max i'd be fucking pissed.

Swap some of that needlessly expensive shit out for cheaper parts and get a 980
>>
>>320606167
>>brands whited out
Serial numbers

>>cougar fan covering the actual Noctua one
Cougars is my case fan. The power cable is tied to the sides hence had to remove it from the side panel.

The i5 and i7*
>>
>>320605336
Why are you in every single one of these threads?
>>
>>320606331
>if you're not overlooking
Why the fuck would you not overclock? You don't need to max your chip out, but any i5/7 will easily get .5 or so GHz without issue or excessive heat.
>>
>wanting a piece of shit overheating lunchbox so you have a little more space for your dragon dildos
LOL
>>
>getting a tiny piece of shit case with terrible airflow
>all for the sake of saving a bit of space on your desk because you're too dumb to put your rig on the fucking floor.

Why are you always stalking me?

You liek me don't you? <3
>>
>>320606337
I am considering going with a 980, but you're grossly exaggerating everything. I have plenty of storage, with kick assume audiogear, and a fantastic monitor.
>>
>>320606370
Carry on.
>>
>>320606463
>terrible airflow
False.

mini-ITX cases are the most cooling efficient since there is no room for turbulence nor stale hot air to propogate..
>>
Here's an update to the fags that don't know how to subtract the cost of peripherals, and to the helpful people that suggested a 980.

Anon get an i5 or i7 and get a 980. Stop going for memes you can add them later make a solid core first.
>>
>>320606832
Swap out the HDD for a single platter 7200rpm like a WD Caviar Black. Less chances of failure.
