Looking to get a new gamepad for my PC. Can anyone who has used both controllers tell me which one they think is better?

If it's a windows PC, the xbone controller will have a much easier time connecting than the PS controller. Playstation controller drivers for Windows are all 3rd-party, pure shitassfuckitude.
Unless you use your d-pad for a ton of things you might just want to get a wired 360 controller desu senpai

InputMapper has to be one of the only genuine "it just werks" PS4 drivers I've ever found
Even then, it is third party and has an ugly ad, but using the touchpad as a mouse is unfathomably good feeling
get a wired 360 one breh, I have one and on the slight occasion, it's as simple as plugging in the USB and having it take a minuted to DL the drivers...

Not that I'm encouraging anyone to get anything other than a 360 pad for PC play, but I plugged a DS4 into my PC and Rocket League picked it up very quickly and switched inputs to playstation buttons. I assumed the drivers were better?

I really like my PS4 control and feel it's comfortable as hell. I'm not really into PC games anymore, but I used it for Dead Space 3 Co-op and it worked well.
The software I used to get it running is called InputMapper and it worked great. It say it has " ads " but I haven't seen any oddly enough.

DS4, used em both, xbone controller feels cheap and low quality in comparison.
I use the Xbone controller for Dolphin and a few other games and its the best controller i've ever used. For comparison i've used a DS3, Wii Classic Pro and XB360 controller.
xb1 if you want a dpad. ps4 if you want 4 hardened pieces of dog shit embedded into the controller
You could go either way teebeeaich, or maybe go for a Wii U Pro controller if you want a good middle ground between both other controllers.

It's up to the developers to include native support for DS4 on PC. I know Ubisoft get a lot of flack but almost all their crossplatform games support ds4 native with button prompts.

I just got my PS4 and I'm not really digging the DS4 yet. It's not bad i'm just not that impressed by it. I've never liked Xbox controllers very much, the face buttons don't feel right and I don't like the asymmetrical sticks
Wii U Pro controller has been a perfect gamepad for my PC so far. If you don't have a serious need for Analog triggers you should look into it

You should go to Gamestop or Walmart when you have a chance and play around with the displays for a bit to see which one you prefer. Between the two, I prefer the DS4 since the touchpad can be used as a pseudo mouse. Also, the Xbone was wonky bumpers, I like the 360 better.

DS4. The touchpad can be used like a touchpad on a laptop so it's great for PC gaming on a couch. The only thing I don't like about it is the shit battery life.

Get the DS4, I've never understood why people have problems with the stick layout on the dualshock controllers.
The dpad on the Xbox controller is hard to use and cramps my thumb, but that's only because it's flat on the controller.

to answer OP's question, if you have no gamepad at all at the moment, i feel like you're better off getting an Xbone or 360 controller to use since it has better compatibility and everything just works out of the box
you can use DS4Windows or something with the DS4 but some games still have issues and you have to mess around a bit to get them working
