Bought this game today, from CEX of all places. I played a few hours. I'm enjoying the fact that you can talk to the enemies and reason with them. For those that played it, how did you rike it?
>>
Sounds like it's your first SMT game. If you're liking it, you'll probably really enjoy the rest of the series. Soul Hackers is considered a weak entry in the series.

Next I would try SMT4 then see if you can get into Nocturne after that.
>>
>>320514864
SH is a great entry point to the series. The OST is godly too.

Stick with it, the game isn't very difficult so you shouldn't ever get stuck.
>>
>>320514969
>Soul Hackers is considered a weak entry

0/10 fuck off back to plebbit.
>>
>>320515412
It's not bad, it's just not as good as many others.
>>
>>320515462
Name a game with better atmosphere or music
>>
>>320515690
I'd say Nocturne and SJ both exceed Soul Hackers in both of those. But I guess that's pretty subjective.

I don't know why you're trying to derail a possible quality SMT thread.
>>
Thanks for the responses (nice to see an actual fucking discussion about a video game on /v/)

The first I played in the series was persona 4, and honestly, I think I'm enjoying soul hackers more for it's overall refreshing weirdness.
>>
>>320515894
>calling out plebbit is derailing a thread

SJ atmosphere is good but HOO HAA HOO HAA chanting is in no way better than Soul Hacker's 90's vaporwave soundtrack
>>
>>320515907
Persona is good if you're in the mood for SMT but don't want to put up with difficulty and need breaks in between dungeons.

Anons that try to say one is shit and the other is superior are kidding themselves.
>>
>>320515907
Should have played P3FES first 2bh and most people consider Persona to be a its own thing
>>
>>320514864
I like it a lot, but it's just too easy until the post game, even on hard difficulty. Dolphins are rapists and assholes.
>>
>>320515203
I'm playing it same as OP, as my first SMT game.

And it definitely can be pretty difficult at times. Casual enemy encounters can kill you with instant death spells, or quick 1-2 setups like bomb and fire. Or they reflect all of your attacks back at you and there's really nothing you can do about it except reload from your last save when you get wrecked and then go from there. Also it doesn't tell you what your new spells and abilities and shit do when fusing demons, you kind of just have to hope for the best.
>>
What's the point of talking to them? All they ever want to do is fight.
>>
>>320516475
You can recruit them

Did you not bother to read the manual?

Lets be real though, all SMT games, excluding Ronde are good in their own rite.
>>

pretty great and pretty much loved

though a bit of advice make the MC into as much of a tank as possible in case this is your first time play this type of game

I mean, if you see a walking source of survival that may or may not be retarded, why wouldn't you walk over ready to fight?
>>
>>320516354
OP here, can't you "hack" the game to lower the difficulty? I do know it's a pretty easy game compared to pretty much every other one in the series. I'll have to experiment a bit to figure out the mechanics.
>>
>>320516565
>>320516754

Most of the time when I choose to talk, they just end up tricking me and attack. Is there a way to know if you can recruit them or is it random?

>>320514969
You're wrong.

>>320514864
Nice choice, OP. My favorite game in the series, possibly tied with SMT II. The best negotiation system in the series, anyways, and you'll be disappointed when Nocturne and IV negotiation amounts to boring bribery.
>>
>>320516974
You can recruit them if their level is the same or lower as the MC. In some games your INT stat also influences your success chance.
>>
>>320516805
Why announce you're the faggot OP? Why? What do does it add to your comment? Fucking normie.
>>
>>320516974
If they have a smiley when you select them you can talk to them
Recruiting a partyfull of demons is the main point f the game idiot
>>
>>320516992
anyone else know any games in the same style as Soul Hackers? It has that 90's futuristic feel. The music plays a great part in that..
>>
>>320517252
Cause I'm a faggot that likes sucking demon dick. Why else?
>>
>>320517326
Virtual On is a wildly different variety of game, it's an arena fighter, but if you really want that 90's sci-fi a e s t h e t i c it can hardly be beat.
Also the Ghost In The Shell PSX game.

I played it for a while but the fucking menu noise pissed me right off. Scrolling through a menu you get the same loud echoing sound effect as when you select something
Fuck that noise.
>>
>>320517326
Not the games specifically but I know a lot of good game music that has that 90's Japanese muzak vaporwave feel

I hope you mean it's not the best for starting out with.

Just see each demon's personality and use the appropriate command. It's not hard

>>320514864
The game is pretty much a tutorial for the first 5 hours or so.

How each demon reacts to your responses or commands is not random.

Spec Nemissa and MC for Ma/Ag and St/Ag respectively, for your first playthrough, at least.

It's better to fuse at the Goumaden.

Having one demon out is usually more than enough to deal with normal battles.

I wish Meguro would compose more music like this

He didn't compose Soul Hacker's OST

Not him but I think Soul Hackers has all of these neat characters and has this neat setting but has such a dull story that it brings it all down. It was solid gameplaywise tho, 7.5/10
>>
>>320523572
Imagine Nemissa telling you to cum inside her while Hitomi's begging you not to.
