Why is this game so bad? I wanted to get into final fantasy but if it's this kinda turn based shit, I won't like it.
But why is FF14 even worse?

Okay I'm retarded because I thought it was, but I never even got to experience any of that since the intro is mindnumbing. I'll be terribly honest. I never played any FF game and I just wanted to see if I would be interested. Where should I start?

If anything FFXIV is one of the most well written MMOs out there and the quests are fun to read.

The intro was hard to get through. It's too boring, and I hate doing errands. Meanwhile I see all the level 60 warlords showing cool tricks to all the new scrubs and ERPing away.
So far, nothing is grabbing me.

Well, that's understandable, and squareenix thought so too, so now you will reach lvl 50 by just doing the main quests that reach up to the heavensward expansion.
You can pretty much ignore all of the sidequests and stuff if you like.
So yeah, stick to the main quests and dungeons if you wanna level up quickly.

Not that guy, but I play on Balmung because my idiot friend was playing there.
Thought I'd waltz into a c@girl ERP zone, but I've yet to see those ERP party finder posts, and I've been playing on balmung for like 2 years now. The only things I've seen is lighthearted roleplay in the taverns and stuff that makes the world a little bit more alive and interesting, although I have walked into 2 instances of public ERP when I was muckin' about.
Granted I'm a yuropoor so maybe I miss them all because I'm asleep when its ERP prime time

It's pretty garbage imo. It literally does nothing new when compared to other generic MMOs like WoW. One of my friends loved it and convinced me and 2 others to play it to level 50. I got to level 40 but couldn't get to 50 because of how fucking dull and boring it was.
I didn't personally like it. I played a BLM and their spells were boring as fuck. I mean, the thunder/lightning spell is a dot? That makes no sense. Why isn't fire the dot spell since fire will burn things, if anything the lightning spell should have a chance to paralyse or something, not a shitty boring dot.

It doesn't dot, it sets up an effect to trigger Thunderstorm, so you can use Thunder instantly, without spending any MP
