Monitor

right now I use both until I have enough spare money to get a second monitor, its an ok secondary screen for now though.
>>
Both, mate. 55 inch HDTV for vidya or movies and a much smaller monitor for when I need to work or read shit.

I actually use a HD TV as a monitor, not saying its better or anything
>>
>>320493156
oh look its this bait again

>gtx 680 2gb
>3 monitors beyond 1080p resolution

yeah no that wont work unless you try to run pacman, and even then you only get silky smooth 24fps
>>
I haven't had a desktop pc in years, may soon get one. Is HDMI the best cable to connect with?
>>
Both

>>320493220
>bait
You don't understand the meaning of the word.
>>
>>320493210
Not a very good idea for vidya, since TVs have high latency and low Hz. This means things on-screen are delayed compared to input, and your FPS is capped low.
>>
>>320493305
yeah one monitor running at 5670x1080p is one thing but 3 of those is a whole othe thing

3 monitors, running a game that seems good looking, so i doubt a single ancient gpu can run that at even close to 60fps

hdmi / dvi are the exact same quality wise. the only difference is hdmi can transmit both audio and video whereas DVI can only transmit video.

hdmi is only necessary if you have speakers built into your monitor and you're hooking up something like a playstation 4
>>
>tfw use monitor for my PC, PS4, and Xbox

I use a CRT TV for my PS2, Dreamcast, and Gamecube though.
>>
>>320493494
The GTX 680 was the most powerful single GPU VGA on the market. But I guess you're too young to remember that.

If i want to lay on the bed - I use TV (sadly, not so HD, only 1366x768). Otherwise - IPS monitor.

Why would I own a TV?
A TV can't do what a computer can.
A computer can do what a TV does.

I have a shitty native 1360 HD TV.
it's so shit I would not recommend. Most games I can still run 1980, but you can;t read shit. I can't wait to get my pay rise as the first fucking thing after my new bed will be a HD Monitor.
>>
>>320493478
SOME TVs have high latency.

I purchased my current tv after researching models with the lowest input lag, as I play a lot of fighting games and you are correct in saying high latency can break the game.

I used my TV for both computer and television, but I keep the screen smaller in PC mode; having the PC screen too large makes it annoying to read through.

Both, my battle station is plain but aesthetically pleasing.
>>
Right now, monitor. I've been thinking of using my TV as a second monitor so I can play games from the couch, but that requires completely rearranging my living room.
>>
>>320493210
I actually use a 40" monitor for TV based games and PC games. There are still some compromises since monitors that big are still a new thing but its the best single display solution around.
>>

Neat, cheers.

Yeah, like 5 or 10 years ago gramps that spouts the same memes without even checking the facts.

A majority of even cheap HD TVs will run 1080p @ 60mhz with and avg of maybe 10ms slower than most monitors.

21:9 34" Monitor as the main

Next to it my old 24" Dell rotated vertical for coding

Above it a 52" TV for anime.
>>
Triple monitor for my gaming rig, monitor and TV for my living room rig.
>>
Can't decide on whether to get a 21:9 screen, 32"minimum 4k screen or 27" + 2 smaller screens.

I don't even game that much.
>>
I use 3 TVs because I only recently upgraded my PC after it being a toaster for several years so I've always had the TVs around the house.

Use the 65 Inch for watching movies on my PC, the 55 inch for some games and the 32 Inch hardly ever gets used anymore since the 55 inch has decent input lag.

I'd prefer a monitor but I'm saving up for other things right now so I'll probably get one at some point in the future.
>>
3 24" 1080p monitors, left is portrait for web browsing, middle is 144hz for vidya, right is just another one for movies, shows, general media consumption.

Good job, but you are still a retard. :^)

The best setup is to have one of each connected to your PC.

If price is no problem:

1. Get one of those monitors that has the chip that syncs your monitor's refresh rate to the native fps output of your graphics card. Make sure to get the ones that run at 144hz.

2. Get the best possible 4k tv you can afford.

Use the monitor for vidya or other high fps uses and the tv for youtube/netflix/hulu/any consoles you might have/local TV channels/anything else that TVs are designed for.
