When I'm playing Symphonia I keep thinking Lloyd's design is boring compared to the other characters and that he just reminds me of anime Mario.
But when I see him next to the other Tales MC he's actually one of my favorite design because he looks normal and efficient compared to most of them.
It's like that trick girls do where they bring a fat chick to the bar with them so they appear hotter relatively to her.

I always recommend those because they're popular without a lot of detractors (Abyss pushing it a bit). Xillia 2 has a lot of fan, but also a lot of detractors which is why I personally don't recommend it to newcomers.
I like them all except the awful Symphonia sequel.
Grace was amusing but really bad.
Eternia > Abyss > Vesperia > Phantasia from actually good ones.
Symphonia is an overrated trash.
Xillias are just garbage.
Zesty is a horrible piece of shit, easily Legendia-tier.
