Suprise surprise: It's shit
Gearbox never fails to deliver.
>tfw all the talent in the industry died or quit and the people that replaced them are incompetent as hell
>>320488660
It's not even out yet. So how do you know it's shit? Does your dad work for Gearbox?
>>320488660

>>320488747
That's what happens when you don't share your secrets.
Take programming.. Most programms will tell you something is wrong but not what is wrong or how to even fix it.
So, To advance in programming you need to be a master of programming to tell yourself what is wrong in the first place.
GENIUS!
Alot of other parts of the game industry are like that as well, Game design isn't but people don't believe they require them anymore.
Half brick is a studio that recently decided to go half wit.

It's literally small scale supreme commander
>>320488660
I don't know. The trailer looked ok. Didn't really show us much gameplay outside of explosions. Is there something I'm missing? Why is it shit?
>Pre-order now and receive Homeworld' Remastered collection for free
Did it flop that badly?
>>320489076
You're on /v/, literally everything is shit. No good video games exist.
>>320489037
>small scale supreme commander
So shit?
>>320488660
>People thinking Gearbox made this.
You're all fucking idiots.
The original fucking Homeworld devs made this, it was originally called Shipwreckers and was meant to be an MMORTS.
They failed miserably, have subsequently butchered the game and struck up a publishing deal with Gearbox.
>make a thread about this asking for peoples thoughts
>no replies
>someone makes a thread shitposting same game mindlessly
>endless replies
See, this is why /v/ died
>>320488660
Yes but is the music good
Thats all that matters.

>Expecting a good game from Gear "We arnt to blame for aliens, borderlands 2 is great writing and we really did win our name from a Mississippi river cruise high steaks poker match showdown with GabeN" box
>expecting a good RTS out of a company who did ports and then nothing but shooters.
>>320489171
Oh. Forgot about that. My bad.
>>320489201
Shipbreakers, you mean. Also, your recollection of events is flawed or purposefully misleading. Please desist.
>>320489212
I didn't see you're other thread bro. Chill out.
>>320488880
RTS games from 2004 didn't have that good of graphics.
>>320488802
>So how do you know it's shit?
Powered by Unity.
>>320489573
Yeah, that's usually a pretty good indicator.
>>320489504
u having a laugh?
>>320488886
You dropped out college and it shows. A programmer is in control of the tech he uses, if you wait for the computer to tell you what to do, you just don't understand shit about being a pro, at all.
>>320489362
>>expecting a good RTS out of a company who did ports and then nothing but shooters.
i bet u think the new doom is developed by bethesda too
>>320489573
No fucking way.
>>320488747
> Gearbox
> Talent
> Ever
Gearbox., before Borderlands, was known as the most mediocre developement company in existence. They did mostly expansions, ports or small time FPS. Only rivalled by Raven.
That is why RTSs are never going to be back, everything is already labeled shit before people even played it, just because is not "muh x game from a century ago".
RTS games are flawed and is only loved by nostalgia fags that refuse to give a chance to anything new.
>>320489713
>a little unknown small manned team who was hard up for money because their project failed was absorbed by gearbox
>You dont think gearbox fucked with it at all and just said "heres some money and the right to our IP"
Because these are things that happen.
Wait a minute, I don't care because this isn't Total Annihilation.
>>320489793
>The graphics look 2004-06 era
>It already has low animation quality in the official trailer
>Its a mostly ground based RTS in an IP that was a free axis space RTS
>The entire game was mostly a standalone POS that ran out of money and Gearbox bought the studio and had them rename it to use their IP they bought
>It looks like a bad mix match of tons of other RTS's without any regard of why they fit into those RTS's
The game is 33 days away from a full launch. None of these will be fixed. The genre deserves better than this.
I'll buy it if it's good or mediocre, but I'll not make the mistake to buy it full price at launch again.
As happy as I am that there's a new Homeworld game being released, and by many of the original devs too
Keep feeling that the original concept of "corporations competing for ancient salvage wrecks left by forces unknown on a nowhere desert planet" spoke to me more than being a prequel campaign to Homeworld 1 that retcons a bunch of stuff to make itself happen
>>320489775
Unless they made an engine change at the last minute, they've been making this in Unity for the last couple of years. They were even showing it off at the Unity conference this year.
I'm not tech savy, why is Unity shit?
>>320490246
Because v doesn't like it.
>>320490246
It's not suitable for what majority use it for.
And/or they don't know how to use it.
>>320488880

>Suprise surprise: It's shit
Have you played it already?
>>320489710
Planning ahead and using familiarized templates and structures is very fundamental, yeah anon
but what the fuck are you talking about? Running through error messages and solving them is the main portion of what you do as a "pro" programmer aka the computer telling you what you should do
I don't even, someone's clearly projecting HARD here mr. master's degree
>>320490428
It's $50 though.
>>320490246
It's really cheap so a lot of indie devs are using it. And most of indie games are shit, therefore by retarded shitposter's logic Unity is shit.
>>320490605
You get a discount if you own Homeworld Remastered.
>>320490246
It's a mobile engine, which means that it doesn't matter what GPU you have, the engine will basically ignore it. They fixed it with Unity 5 though.
>>320490428
>only $10 in Russia
Thank you based Gearbox.
>>320490845
>They fixed it with Unity 5 though.
I wish. Unity 5 is a fucking mess.
>>320491186
Care to elaborate?
>>320489787
>jk
>mediocre
kill yourself
>>320491186
Well my only experience with Unity 5 is Wasteland 2, which, despite its improved graphics, actually manages to hold 60fps and use my GPU.
In the original W2 I'd get frequent drops and my GPU would just fucking stay idle.
Please persuade me not to pre-order it, /v/.
>>320490246
It's good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNR9Nvjsv9Y don't listen to these retards.
do we have to pretend this isn't a Planetary Annihilation ripoff
>>320491606
How it is a rip off of a shitty game that tried to cash in on TA and supcom while failing miserably on all levels?
>>320491606
No you just have to realize that seamless air/space to ground combat in a grand scale is the next evolution of RTS games. Planetary Anihilation just did it first.
>Kuushan now had spaceships all over the place and knew about the other civilizations.
>>320491781
>Planetary Anihilation just did it first.
>first
Jesus christ the underage
>>320491606
Watch as thats campaing only and not actual gameplay.
>>320490568
>but what the fuck are you talking about? Running through error messages and solving them is the main portion of what you do as a "pro" programmer aka the computer telling you what you should do
Exceptions are set by the programmer though--save for automated testing like Rails has. No...?
>>320491847
I actually was immediately reminded by the next post about TA and Supcom, I just didn't play them for that long since I didn't enjoy them, that's why I didn't mention them.
>>320489825
>gearbox found a small studio composed of people who worked on a beloved franchise that gearbox recently acquired, already deep in development for making a game for that franchise in everything but name
>you think gearbox didn't say "neat, free money. publish through us and you get the funds"
>you think they said "alright so scrap what you're doing, time to make a new game that we want"
>you think they did this and somehow put that new, ostensibly worse game together for january
because these things happen
>>320489369
>Ignoring the fact that Gearbox only published the game, not developed it.
looks good
I'm pumped
>People don't know about Shipbreakers
>>320492147
This is Shipbreakers.
>>320491951
how could you even think of PA though without instantly thinking of the games it directly tried to copy?
>>320492175
Thats what i'm talking about, they started the development long before Gearbox offered them to publish the game under Homeworld brand
>>320489212
Yup.
>>320488660
>any RTS game
>good
>prequel
I hope it flops so hard that they never make another HW again. Fuck prequels and fuck Gearbox.
>>320492246
And it was going to be a f2p rts, one would assume that not much of previous work (besides some general assets) would make it into the DoK.
>>320491136
$13. ~$30 if it was before that economical collapse.

>>320492480

In this case 'died' refers to the quality of discussion present on the board itself, not the quantity of the discussion that takes place.
This has been Captain Obvious, signing out.

they have terrestrial combat and flat maps

The ducks are not in proper height order, or grouped together. In fact none of the colors are grouped together.
This is bad autism.

>>320489573
>Unity
>>320489114
I tried getting into homeworld remastered, but fuck me its combat is so bland it feels like a chore going through the campaign, up to mission 10 in HW1 remastered. The only good part is the bits and pieces of lore, and messing around looking at ships up close. Everything feels like a clusterfuck, not very intuitive. Might as well just watch the damned cutscenes on youtube.
Playing it just makes me itch for a 4X with RTS elements, I've enjoyed the ever loving fuck out of sword of the stars 1 and 2. The combat mechanics are so much easier to comprehend and grasp, combat is miles more entertaining especially when you can customize your ships with whatever funky modules and weapons you want.
I have sins of a solar empire picking up dust as well, might give it another shot, I haven't particularly enjoyed it either but It seems more entertaining than homeworld to me at least.
We'll see how this goes, I'm not preordering it, need to see some proper gameplay footage. I have my eyes on ashes of the singularity as well but that doesn't seem particularly great either compared to supcom.

holy shit, go back to neogaf newfag
Isn't this just that one game that was hyped a couple years ago or whatever rebranded as Homeworld?
Shipbreakers or Shipwreckers. Something like that.
>>320491464
>Act of Agression
preordered, expected CnC generals fun, ended up with a pile of mediocre shit. Not a bad game, just not worth the price I paid
>planetary annihialation
bought on sale, expected supcom with planets, ended up with massive buyer's remorse
Just don't do it, wait for it to release and check /v/ discussion a few days after. If it is solid buy it, if not then you saved yourself some mad shekels which you can pour into another blunder like a good goy.
homoworld
>>320495117
Was always a Homeworld game.
It's set in the universe of Homeworld, on a world where everyone on it has sort of lost the ability to get off of the planet, and the gameplay and story revolves around you trying to gain control of resources and ships and parts so you can become space again
I'm looking forward to it
>>320488660
>Gearbox never fails to deliver.
but they always fail to deliver
>>320489787
he was referring to relic, retard. their supposed reincarnation, blackbird, is behind this and thus shit.
