Skyrim started out better than Fallout 4, and will likely stay better than Fallout 4, because Skyrim's mods get fucking ridiculous, and FO3/NV never got anything on that level.
Just replayed Skyrim after being seriously disappointed by Fallout 4. Skyrim needs a lot of small mods to tweak and remove things I found to be irritating but I don't think there's any amount of mods to make Fallout 4's base game worth bothering with again anytime soon.

Skyrim had dogshit combat on top of dogshit world design on top of dogshit RPG mechanics. Literally only useful as a porn mod platform.
Fallout 4 had just ok combat with a slightly believable world with worse RPG mechanics and a voiced protag and a dialogue wheel. Porn mods will come later.
Fallout 4 is playable, Skyrim isn't.

Fallout 4 was worse then Skyrim. I see they made a effort but sadly if that's the best they can do with the time they had, the next one is going to be just as bad.

They are going up actually in terms of popularity, fanbase and copies sold.
Bethesda is good at making fantasy rpgs because they made that series from the beginning unlike Fallout series, which they bought it.
Oblivion was better than Fallout 3, Skyrim better than Fallout 4, this trend will continue in the future too.
